Save your visit to Galata Bridge for the evening so you can have a fish sandwich for dinner from one of the colorful floating fish fry boats. You can watch the cooks maintain their balance on the rocking boats as they make fish burgers non-stop. Judging by the amount of people here, it is a popular place. It is open air seating and self serve. Go to one of the nearby juice stands for a fresh OJ or lemonade.

This was my favourite spot in Istanbul, believe it or not! You can watch people fishing from the Galata bridge and buy delicious fresh fish sandwiches from the boats in the harbour for 6TL each. You must try the sour turnip juice with pickles! Close by is an artisans' market and, a little further along, the Spice Market.

All of Istanbul is here, never thought walking over a bridge could be as interesting as this, you see alsorts, traffic chaos, trams, people walking, biking, fisherman, hundreds of them, people selling stuff,on top of that, with all the ferries, and boats ships of all shapes and sizes in the Bosporus it all adds to to an interesting crossing

The Galata Bridge, to me, was mostly interesting because of the number of fishermen trying their luck there. Its lower part is full of restaurants selling seafood and on the top you'll see many locals, walking, talking, etc. The views are nice and the overall atmosphere is chilled and pleasant.

It was great watching scores of people fishing from the bridge, oblivious to the traffic roaring past behind them! The bridge also provides superb perspectives of Istanbul European and Asian sides - especially at night.
