“Breakfast with view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

A good hotel located in the center of Sultanahmet, at a walking distance from the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. Rooms are average, but its main feature is the seventh floor terrance and its view. Having the included and rich breakfast there is an excellent start for the day.

Room Tip: Better in a higher position, far from the lift and the center of the corridor.

In many respects, the Aziyade Hotel is an excellent venue to visit Istanbul and especially the Sultanahmet old-city district. It is only a 15-minute walk to the Grand Bazar, just a few minutes more to the Blue Mosque, Ste Sophie, Cistern Basilica... and a 10-minute walk to the Cemperlitas tramway station for a ride to the abovementioned attractions, Karakoy (and then unto Place Taksim), and beyond to the terminal at Kabatas to embark on the ferry to Princes' Islands. Also, the staff, particularly the front-desk staff, is always pleasant, The same is true of the staff in the restaurant on the 7th floor which offers a beautiful view of the Marmara Sea. Too bad though that an omelet could only be requested in the morning at a price contrary to many hotels who offer it for the asking. Why a mixed review? Because our one major critic has to do with the air conditioning: in the day time, the air conditioning was barely sufficient but at night, it would appear that they shut it down which left us gasping for breath and sweaty around 3 am every morning. Is that the norm for Istanbul? I wouldn't know. And yes some Europeans in our group who were questioned on that matter did tell us that we were right, that the air conditioning was deficient but that they were used to it in Europe. Also, it could be that the problem would not have been so significant at another time of the year - Istanbul in July is hot with maximums during our stay at the 28 degrees Celsius mark and beyond. So yes, do consider staying at the Aziyade for your stay in Istanbul but do consider that, depending on the weather and your lifestyle needs, you may find it a tad uncomfortable in the early morning hours.

Room Tip: Our room 403 had a beautiful view on the Marmara Sea.

I stayed un Aziyadé for one week from July 22 to 29, 2013. Nice hotel walking distance to Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque and all others sites.

Room are very small and VERY HOT. NO AIR CONDITIONNING before 18h00 and they turn it off at midnight. The temperature were very hot and we suffer from the heat every night.

That was the only negative point but it is a big one as Istanbul can be very hot in summer.

Room Tip: room on higher floors are quieter and have a better view

This hotel was part of our tour and we stayed a total of 4 nights. You can't beat the location or the view from the rooftop rstaurant. However, it is very noisy and HOT. The central AC system is turned off during the day and is not active until after 5pm. So when you return after a long day of touring, it takes a while to get the room cool. You need your key fob to activate the lighting system so every time you go out of the room the AC is shut off and the room heats up again. Byt the last two nights, we got smart and removed our actual door key from the key fob which needs to be left in the electrical slot. This way your AC can be on while you are out having dinner or drinks and you come back to a cool room. This is extremely imnportant when you are visiting during the summer heat waves and it is 40 degrees outside.

The looby has free juice all day and night long which is a nice touch, there is a lemonade and a pomegranate clove drink. It is nice to have a cool drink when you come back from a tour.

The food in the restaurnat is fine. Even picky people can find something to eat. However it is the spectacular view from the 7th floor that makes it so memorable.

If you get a chance, go to the restaurant/cafe next door called Dergah. It is great and the food and drinks are reasonably priced. They also have hookah for 15 Turkish lira if you are so inclined.
The staff there are super friendly and very chatty. We spent a few nights there whiling away the time with Ugur and Ibrahim.

In short the location is wonderful and within walking distance to all the main sights, shopping and restaurants. Just don't expect much in the way of friendly service from the staff.

Room Tip: Pick a room on the back of the hotel as the front side overlooks the main road and is very noisy.

The hotel is very nice, located in the Sultanahmet area on a narrow hilly street with a colourful neighborhood. The staff was pleasant and efficient, the lobby small but comfortable wirh magazines and documentations and there is a small and pleasant bar area.

We stayed in the hotel twice within two weeks. The first time, the room (204) was well appointed, large with two windows and a great view of the Blue Mosque. The second time the room was very very small with a view on an office building which was accross a very narrow street. We felt like peeping toms as we could see evrything going on in the rooms facing us. Unpleasant and on top of that so small that we could barely walk around the beds and had to put the luggages on the beds to pack for the trip back home.

The plus thing is that the hotel is well maintained, the rooms we had were clean and the bathrooms well equipped with amenities.

The real plus of the hotel is the penthouse restaurant, the rooftop terrace and the beautiful view. Being for a happy hour drink, breakfast, lunch or dinner the service was good and the buffet selection, both intercontinental and Turkish, was varied, plenty of fresh bread for the morning, yogurt, good selection of fruits, diversified mezzes and hot dishes, large and varied selection of desserts.

Walking distance to the Grand Bazaar, the spice market, the Hippodrome, the Blue Mosque and other sites.

We would go back to this hotel but would make sure to have a look at the room before taking it.

Room Tip: Check the room location and size

I stayed in Aziyade for 1 week this May. This hotel is really walking distance to blue mosque, grand bazzar and many central attractions. There is a free computer with free internet. The turkish bath / spa in the hotel is also nice and free to hotel customers 10 -4 pm daily. The roof top panarama view restauant is beautiful. However, each breakfast has identical food. I heard the 4:30am praying on the 1st night. It was very impressive. The food in the restaurants near hotel are very $ reasonable. 1 thing I was so impressed - the shower has incredible water pressure. You get a great flow of water right away with 0 hesitation. I enjoyed this hotel.

this hotel located at narrow road and hillside alike. the road quite busy as well. i love the roses and other flowers in front of the hotel :) staff was friendly, wifi was free and they have welcome drink. me and my friends only stay for one night, by the way this hotel quite near to Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia (10-15 mins walking distance). the room quite small for triple sharing but they have bath tub in room and hamam spa if you would like to try it.

Room Tip: maybe need to select room with outside view. our room dont have outside view, just facing another ro...
