The building is sweet and the beds are comfortable. The staff are friendly warm and welcoming. The situation is perfect. Our room, 605 was the pick of the bunch, with sea views and street views. The breakfasts are feasts of delight. Honestly it has a modesty and homeliness that warmed my weary travelling heart and I cannot recommend the hotel, the management and the staff more highly. If ever I return this is where I will come.

i loved that hotel. i stayed for 2 nights only and they were simply great. brilliant location in the Sultan Ahmed district, very close to the major sightseeing spots in Istanbul. the rooms are nicely furnished, room service is great, hotel staff are excellent, very very friendly and helpful. they helped us in booking tickets for a sema ceremony show, allowed us to stay a bit longer till our airport pickup arrives, they even waved us goodbye at the doorway while leaving. the breakfast buffet is great, & the breakfast terrace made it even more enjoyable. i had an amazing stay at this great hotel

I stayed at the Histortia Hotel with my family, there were a large number of us. We stayed in three family rooms as well as a two small rooms. I would like to say that overall my experience staying at the Historia was fantastic. All of my family had a great stay, the staff were very friendly and catered for all of us- despite our large numbers!
I recommend the Historia as a great hotel which can cater for large and small families without compromising any effort or delivery in customer service.
The breakfast was great- The perfect way to start each day! lol. I have great admiration for the management who were always avalilble to ensure that I and my family had the best stay possible!

Room Tip: Although all the rooms are good- I highly recommend the 5th and 6th floors, with the sea view!

We stayed in a family room at the Historia with 4 adults. The room was large enough even though there were so many of us. The staff was courteous and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfasts very much. The location is excellent for being close enough to walk to all the sites but it requires some uphill walking and so those who have difficulty walking might want to choose another location. There was insufficient water pressure in the shower. Our room was next to a train track and the train did make noise when it passed every hour or so but it didn't bother any of us at night and we slept well. the Internet was very slow and intermittently unavailable. I would have liked conditioner in the shower along with the shampoo. The room was clean, the price very reasonable, and overall we enjoyed our stay very much.

We stayed here as a family (2 adults and 2 children aged 13 and 9) for 6 nights in late August.

First the positives - and there are many.

- The hotel is in a great location in Sultanahmet, only a few minutes walk to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia, with plenty of places to eat nearby.

-The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful

- We requested (and got) a room with a balcony and a nice sea view.

- The breakfast is well presented in a room, and there is a good choice , and the room extends out to a few tables in nice terrace area where you can eat if it is not too busy.

The main drawbacks of our stay were :-

- The air conditioning did not work properly throughout our stay, and was difficult to get the hang of controlling it. On one or two nights it stopped working and I eventually had to go down to reception so they could 'reset' something. On another night it was on too strong and it as our bed was right in front of the unit it got tool cold and I woke up with a headache. Good air conditioning mattered to us particularly because when we were staying it was very hot in Istanbul

- The bathroom had no ventilation, smelt terribly as a result, and was in a poor state of decor, particularly the bath tiles.

- There is a railway track next to the hotel, the trains seem to run until quite late at night and early in the morning. and the noise from them can be a little disconcerting if you were a light sleeper

All in all, this was a hotel with many strong points, but also some areas which require attention.

I would not rule out staying here again in future, but possibly not in August unless the air conditioning can be sorted out!

Room Tip: ask for balcony

Although our original booking was in Atlantis hotel which apparently is their sister concern and we checked into Historia almost at 0300 in the morning the view from the sea facing room was so promising that we woke up early just to savour it. The sea facing rooms also have a relatively busy railway line running close by,but your sleep would hardly be disturbed thanks to the good sound proofing.

The size of the room although small is sufficient for tourists who intend to be out most of the day. The balcony however is quite spacious with respect to the room size and the views as we already stated makes you feel like you are in a cruise ship.

The location of the hotel is central and close to all the touristic attractions. The breakfast provided is basic but good enough. The housekeeping and cleanliness levels are above average. The staff , particularly the girl who was on the day shift (sorry we forgot her name) was very helpful and always willing to provide assistance on any issue with a smile.
