Beautiful classic hotel, very well situated in Sultanamet, the heart of the old city. The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia Museum, Topkapi Palace, the Basilica Cistern and the Grand Bazaar are on walking distance (10'). Not too big, cosy, beautiful roof terrace. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is not great, but ok. Very calm, but the walls between the rooms are rather thin, so if you have a loud neighbor ...

Stayed three nights at the Albatros. The plusses are big: good location in the Old City a few blocks from the Haggia Sophia and Blue Mosque, and a very nice free breakfast. But, the rooms are small, and the beds are quite uncomfortable for a hotel -- think plywood board-hard cot. Lastly, the location is not directly on a Metro Line, so be prepared to take taxis. A trip to the new city can be pricey if you have business or dinners planned on the other side of the river.

Overall, a decent value for the price, especially with the breakfast. But if I could go back in time I'd probably have spent a bit more for a more comfortable room.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on a high floor, facing away from the main street. It gets quite loud at night (w...

I have been to many hotels worldwide and I can easily say that this hotel is one of the best, cleanest with the most hospitable staff I have ever been. This review is late, as I was there in February for a week. I went to Istanbul by myself and the staff was aware of that fact. They were very kind, professional and the breakfasts were great. On my last night in Istanbul I had encountered a problem with my card because I had not informed my bank in the US that I was leaving the country. The Albatros staff did their best to help me at three in the morning and made sure that I arrived at the airport on time. I am forever grateful to them and their compassion.

Again, about the rooms, they are clean, beautiful and well- kept. It is in the best location you can find in the old city in Sultanahmet. I am going back this July and this is the only place I will stay in. It is inexpensive and definitely more bang for your buck. The rooftop patio is beautiful especially in the mornings to have breakfast. They have fast Internet access. Bathrooms are very clean. Need I say more? This place is one of a kind, a gem in my treasure chest of wonderful travel experiences. The architecture is nothing short of a very artistic boutique - style hotel. It's beautiful and I encourage you to stay here.

Oh - and I sincerely enjoyed the call to prayer in the morning. This place is sooooooo close to the blue mosque, Ayasofya, the cistern, and all that great stuff literally a 5 minute walk! - a short cab ride to dolmabahce palace. Great location!

We've stayed four nights in hotel as a couple in the end of March. We've booked a double room but were upgraded to a suite upon arrival for the same price of a double room which made our stay in the hotel pretty comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located at the very heart of Sultanahmet and very close (10 min. short walk) to the main attractions. The receptionists and all the hotel staff were very friendly and showed their respect to all the guests and their willingness to fulfill any guests wishes. Our suite room was nicely decorated in the Ottoman style and had every facility you need. I would recommend this hotel as a perfect place to stay for your trip to Instanbul.

Stayed in room 210 for 4 nights. The hotel looked the part throughout - rooms, corridors, bathroom, restaurant etc. The rooftop views from the restaurant were amazing. Service was excellent and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only slight downside was the fact that the walls of the rooms were a little thin. Other than that though, a truly memorable experience. Would strongly recommend to others.
