Quaint little hotel. I really enjoyed my stay at Ambassador hotel. The staff were excellent from the moment you walked in. Incredibly helpful. Credit goes to Ferdi and Segzin.Ambassador Hotel is in a great location, Close to everything by walking, tram or a short taxi ride. Breakfast at the terrace is really great by enjoying the view of Blue Mosque ang Hagia Sofea. Thanks for a great stay. You could not ask for more. Would recommend anyone to stay here.

I stayed at the Ambassador hotel for nine days from October 15 to October 24, 2012. It is in a great location a block away from the Blue Mosque, two blocks from Hagia Sophia, and very close to the Topkapi palace etc. The hotel is fairly small, four floors with probably 25-30 rooms. It is in a quaint alley off the main street Divan Yolu where you can catch trams that will take you just about anywhere in Istanbul (you may have to connect to the metro, buses or ferries to get to the ultimate destination) The hotel is clean and cozy. A guest staying for a few days gets to know the staff that is very helpful and speaks english. They have a good breakfast buffet in the morning (free) and tea and cookies in the afternoon. Breakfast is served on the terrace which has a sweeping view of the area and beyond to the Bosphorus. Highly recommend for one person or couples.

Room Tip: My room was on the third floor. It had a double bed (it is probably the smallest size room at the ho...

This was my first trip to Turkey. Even before arrival in Istanbul, I already had good impressions of the Ambassador. Natalie, the hotel manager had tended to all my queries most efficiently and had also made arrangements on my behalf for a trip to Cappadocia. Upon arrival at the hotel, I was greeted by a gentleman named Ferdi, who must really like what he does as it showed everyday that I was there. Ferdi went out of his way to help and told me about some hidden gems in Istanbul - all I had to say was "Ferdi sent me" and received 1st class treatment.

The others at the front desk - Nuray and Ilke were just as nice and helpful. Ambassador is a boutique hotel so there's no constant traffic of people going in and out. I guess this is why they are able to give you this special attention, but I'm pretty sure its only part of the reason. They're a really nice bunch of people who go out of their way.

Then there's Sezgin, who's normally spotted on the 4th floor hotel terrace (the view from which is really a sight to behold). Quite the charmer, he'll help you with just about anything you need and occasionally tell you something funny that will make you laugh.

All in all, the hotel staff are efficient, helpful, friendly and genuine.

Now the hotel itself - perfect location though I kept getting lost on the first 2 days day as it's located on a narrow little street off the main street. There were times I couldn't locate the hotel when it was actually 30 meters away (blame it on jet lag). The hotel is literally steps away from all the sites - the Aya Sofiya, Blue Mosque, Basilica Sistern and a hop, skip and a jump away from Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar.

The tram stops less than a minute walk from the hotel so getting around if you don't feel like walking is a breeze. The rooms are tastefully decorated - modern, unpretentious, no kitsch (unless you're into that), and clean. The only downside is the shower - small even for a small person like me, I had trouble climbing in and out. Breakfast at the terrace was great - sufficient variety without being over-the-top. Having your meal at the terrace is a great way to relax - really tranquil. Just don't leave your food unattended too long when you're going for seconds or you'll find birds pecking at them when you get back!

There are plenty of places to eat near the hotel, also if you just wanna grab something on the go - you're really spoiled for choices. In the evenings if you're looking for places nearby to chillout, there are also many choices. I especially like Sah's Bar and restaurant which is just around the corner - good food with live music a couple of times a week. Then there's this other cafe (the name eludes me now), located on a small street opposite the Cemberlitas Tram station / Constantine's Column (5 mins walk from hotel) - Turkish style cafe with a contemporary feel. Love this place - great chillout music, such a great vibe where many locals go. The food is delicious and they have a variety of flavours for nargiles (bubble pipes). The guy who runs the place is named Nuri (ask Ferdi from the hotel for the exact location of this place).

The hotel has free wifi and there's also a computer at the lobby that guests can use at no charge. Ambassador also has a gym which is didn't use but it looks equipped enough for a basic workout. I also didn't try the spa but heard from various sources that it's good - the masseur has earned a good reputation. I'll have to try that next time.

I definitely recommend Ambassador and will be staying there again on my next trip to Istanbul!

Room Tip: Rooms don't really have a view but don't let that bother you. The terrace more than makes up...

Ambassador is a boutique hotel which is perfectly situated in the heart of Sultan Ahmet. The rooftop terrace was perfect whilst enjoying our breakfast in the morning or our tea later in the evening. The terrace no doubt provided the best view in Istanbul !! All staff were very warm and friendly, however a special mention to Sezgin who was very polite and helpful at all times. The lady at the front was also very helpful and provided us with some handy tips for our holiday!

The variety at breakfast was perfect and we were quite impressed with the options provided!

The hotel is within walking distance of the main attractions in istanbul (Blue Mosque,Hagi Sophia,Topkapi Palace,Grand Bazaar) and is right in front of the Sultan Ahmet tram stop (Very convenient!!)

Definitely somewhere I would recommend and would stay here again !!

This was our second visit to the Ambassador Hotel and things were even better than before. There has been some renovation and a few new faces but the core group is still there. Sezgin is the go-to guy for anything you will ever need, the desk clerks are efficient and helpful, and the breakfast on the roof terrace is worth the trip in itself. Location is super. You can get anywhere in Istanbul by taking the streetcar right in front and then either a ferry or dolmus. The area is full of restaurants so you never have to go far for anything. All the tour buses also stop there.

We are staying there again next year because there is always something we missed on the last trip to Istanbul - what a town!

Room Tip: All windows are double pane so outside sounds are minimized.

Absolutely perfect location. The hotel was clean and the staff was very helpful. The rooftop terrace was a great place to relax and enjoy the view over a beer at the end of the day. We would definitely return. Walking distance to the major sights in the area and more great places to eat than you could get to in a week. My only suggestion is to have a good map of the location prior to arrival. It is about a half block off the metro line but on a small side street and has only a small sign.

Rooms clean, probably not so big for two persons but complete of whatever you need and comfortable, air conditioning works properly. Window in room. No complimentary water. If you are tall probably you will have some difficulties with the shower because the roof in my room bathroom is about 2 mts.

The terrace is beautiful, with a magnific view on Blu Mosque, Aya Sophia and the sea.

Very warm hospitality of the staff!

Fast check in/out.

A lot of good restaurant close to the hotel

Gym is very small but you can make basis exercises without problems and is always open.

Breakfast on the terrace, good choice and quality. Some drinks (ie coffee espresso/cappuccino) have to be paid.

I didn't try restaurant and massage service

I normally travel for business, airport hotels probably are more convenient to the highways but at the Ambassador Hotel you feel at home and seems to be in holiday

Highly recommended!
