I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Ambassador Hotel when I stayed in Semtember of 2011 The hotel is not too far from the old city and within 10 minutes walk to St. Sophia, Grand Bazaar and the Blue Mosque. A few minutes walk in the other direction will take you to a more vibrant and hip Istanbul where you can watch people go through their daily activities.
The morning buffet was a virtual smorgassboard of Turksih n food, and the restauant provides a grand view of ships coming into port and a Near tram station. Discount for payment in cash. Staff helps with directions and will write addresses for taxi drivers. Pick-up at the airport..Lobbybar open at night. . Rooms cleaned everyday.hodge podge of rooves and minarets that periodically pop up in the skyline.Bunyamin, the front desk, actually booked me into several other places in Istanbul. His choices were also great. I recommend it with only reservation being stairs. Central location and cost make it ideal for short or long stay.
My room was small, but adequate. I didn't mind because I hardly spent time in there except only to sleep. All in all - I warmly recommand Ambassador Hotel if you need a cosy room (and a friendly faceS) when ending a day of wondering around this beautiful city. For me it was good value for money.
When I go back to Turkey, I'm staying Ambassador again .More
