Every city has its own special spots. Beyoglu is one of them in hudge istanbul. You can observe and experience what you want at that moment. BUT! The fantastic part is sometimes you may experience what you do not expect which makes you high there... Listen me and walk around Beyoglu... And write your moments here. I also wonder. ;)
At the Beyoglu square you can get into the Galata Mevlevihanesi museum, walk among the shops and stalls, or get to the famous istiklal street by taking a Tram from Beyoglu. The are is full of street museums, shops and restaurants, make sure to visit this place at least once
Beyoğlu still has many things to offer to its visitors with its very rich cultural and historical places.Due to its very central and good location, anybody coming to Istanbul is more or less passing through this location to see some most important sights of the city.İf you have enough time, strongly recommend you to reserve a full day for this location and with a good planning please try to explore this famous part of the city with its mosques,
churces, synagogues, museums, shopping streets, shop and stores, cafes and bars&restaurants and many more.Always good to be at this part of the city for any reason during day or night as you can find out something very much interesting for yr self.
This was the first time I stayed in Beyoglu - Taksim Square area & I plan to stay again when I next go to Turkey. It's a great area where there are always things to to, go out to eat, bars etc... The place is always buzzing & full of life with many tourists as well as Turkish people around.
While Sultanamet is the prime district to visit while in Istanbul, Beyoglu is perfect for an extended stay. Easily accessible by the Galata Bridge by foot or the T1 tram from Aksaray going towards Kabatas, this charming neighborhood is the pulse of the city. While Sultanamet may have the landmarks and history, Beyoglu has the culture, people, food, and activities to keep you busy. Meander across the Galata Bridge and watch the locals fish while eating a snack from the food carts (beware of shoe shiners who scam you by pretending to "drop" their brushes in front you, and once you retrieve and return the brush, they offer you a "free" shining, only to demand payment at the end). Then visit the Galata Tower for a panoramic view of the entire city. Walk north to Istiklal Avenue, the equivalent of Fifth Avenue in NYC, and window shop as you immerse yourself into some retail therapy. Lastly, proceed east towards Taksim Square, the modern and chic part of town, and enjoy some Turkish tea and pastries at one of the top 25 bakeries in the world, Hafiz Mustafa. Spend a good part of the evening in Beyoglu and experience what Turkish nightlife is all about.
