Owner description: This neighborhood in the modern section of the city is home to many foreign consulates, and is popular for its restaurants and nightlife.

Lots of shops, vendors but mostly people, everywhere. Good, if you like that sort of thing. Touristy, overpriced and crowded beyond belief. We found a nice nook of a restaurant on a side street and had a lovely dinner. Cool to see, but that's about it.

I was surprised to see that there was a whole page with higher placed attractions.
We stayed close to the center of this area and plan to go back.
The grand bazaar in the old city is truly awsome, with 3600 shops; but Beyoglu is faboulous for the biog expensive shops and streets filled with great restautants.
Very worthwhile a visit.
Or even better, stay in a hotel in this area!

Starting from taksim square and end at the Tunel , an old, fascinating tram still works in this line.
At the morning, we decide to explore it from Taksim square. At the begining we could not know how to get the tickets, but onbe it arrved, the friver pointed out to some one has tickets( 4 TL, more that normal with 1TL). the tram crosses the Istiklal street with its usual bell to warn people to be away fro the rails. Inside, it is made of wood , very clean and charming. It is better to go walking to tunel station and coming back to Taskim, because from taksim just coming down.
