This hotel is perfectly located, quiet street yet within walking distance to all the major attractions. The rooms are amazing. Our room was small with a 1room bathroom but the decor was phenomenal. Beds were extremely comfortable after a long day of walking on stone streets. We had a 4th floor room with a view of The BlueMosque. The only drawback to our room was the thinness of the walls and ability of hearing our next door neighbors.
Breakfast had a wide variety and the view from the top floor Terrace Restaurant was great. Would definitely stay here again.

I was really pleased we chose this hotel (we did read a lot of reviews beforehand):
The location is superb - in the centre of Sultanahmet but set back in a quiet square
Easy walking distance to some amazing places
The views from the terrace and restaurant were breath-taking
All the staff were very helpful and friendly
The decor is unique and we wanted something different (our deluxe room was good)
Good breakfast buffet with a chance to try local foods
I'd be more than happy to stay there again

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms advisable. Higher floors are better for views (even side views).

We have stayed in Golden Horn for 5 nights in March.

I’ve booked three months in advance because of photos, positive reviews and discount. It was a right decision! Looks are great – both outside, and inside the lobby and in the room!

The hotel is perfectly located, 100 meters from the train stop. We had no trouble traveling from/to the Ataturk airport by metro and tram (no more than an hour trip). Main attractions are within walking distance and others are easily reached by public transport.

Our deluxe double room on the second floor faced small square and park. No great view from the window but no noise either! Room was small but not tiny, bathroom, again, small but OK. We only had a shower. Bed was very good – large and comfortable. Air conditioning worked well. Kettle and tea bags in the room were very useful when you return from cold night outside. Room cleaning improved greatly when we left some small tip on the table.

Free wireless internet in the room was working well – Skype and everything.

Breakfast in the panoramic terrace restaurant is one thing that alone could hook you! The views are breathtaking and food is good. For some reason they charge 10 lira for fresh orange juice, though I’ve never seen anyone ordering it. Try Turkish tea on the terrace and enjoy the view you won’t get from the ground level!

My special compliments to hotel staff – they would really do anything to help you. Tamara and Tina from guest relations speak English, Russian (and perhaps many other languages). Free coffee and pastries in the lobby from 4 p.m. were nice touch.

Golden Horn manages to keep thin balance between luxury and kitsch. Again, the hotel is a perfect mix between luxury boutique and affordable place. The price for us was absolutely right for the experience we had. We have enjoyed our stay.

Very good location next to AyiaSofia and blue mosque.Excellent view from the terrace on the 6th floor where the breakfast is served. The staff was perfect, very helpful and polite especially the girls from Georgia. The size of our deluxe room on the 6th floor was normal and the view from it was good but the soundproof was not so good. Also because of the fact that the hotel is close to blue mosque you can hear the prayers.
The breakfast was traditional rich and tasty. Very good value for money. I recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to visit Istanbul.

I lived in the Golden Horn Hotel,Sultanahmet for about a week in December 2012. First of all, I would like to underline here that their personnel is friendly. You would never forget Tina and Tamara or the other people, working there! Their warm and sincere smiles would stay with you for all your life! I lived there only one time, but when I come along there sometimes just to say hello or to recommend their roof restaurant to my friends-the people of the Golden Horn always welcome me very cordially. I stay in Istanbul for already more than two months with some short breaks to go to Moscow to see my parents, my friends and my clients. So, for me the Golden Horn, Sultanahmet is a bit expensive, if I really want to stay for like three months alltogether. Otherwise, it could be a good choice. My favorite hotel in Istanbul is Azyiade, but if not my second choice could be Golden Horn, especially if you can afford to get a suite there. The location is perfect. They also serve you a really hearty and tasteful breakfast at that famous roof restaurant with its stunning, breathtaking views! You also have a nice lobby downstairs, which is quite stylish and cozy at the same time! It looks a bit like Imperial Ottoman style, I would say and you can have some rest there during your busy day in Istanbul. You may take a cup of Turkish tea or coffee once you are there and read your newspaper, sitting at one of the comfortable sofas or chairs there. The dining is also good there. For example I had a good Iskender yogurt kebab there for lunch for only 22 TL with some mineral water and tea. (the later were for free:-)). The only thing, which could be a bit unusual for some travelers is that they do not serve any alcohol there in the restaurant. So, if you are really a wine lover or something, they would not be able to help you with that unfortunately, but I believe its right to respect the local traditions anyway. So, no alcohol. Otherwise the restaurant is very good. Overall, I would recommend you to think about this hotel if you plan your stay in Istanbul, especially for a short term or you could visit their roof restaurant anyway to enjoy the food there and of course the views, plus to get some good service too.

Room Tip: suite ones are the best if you can really afford them!

We stayed in Golden Horn Sultanahmet Hotel in March 2013. The location in the center of the Old Town was perfect. All major sights in this part of the city were within 5- to 10-minute walking distance; the tram station was a 100 meters away.

The staff was very polite and helpful, especially Tamara and Tina. The hotel seemed recently refurbished and looked nice. The view from the top-floor restaurant was amazing.

We reserved a deluxe room, but were given a room with a park view (which is a description for a standard room; all deluxe rooms should have a Bosphorous view). After we complained, we were moved next morning to a room with a balcony on the top floor. It seems that the photos on the hotel web site are edited and the magnificent views from some rooms seem staged; in reality majority of rooms face the garden or neighboring buildings. We recommend reserving a deluxe room (because of a very small difference in price) on the eastern side of the 5th floor or on the eastern corner of the 6th floor (604 with a larger bathroom, 605).

The breakfast was huge and tasty. However, it seemed that some of the breakfast meals were prepared with leftovers from the previous day. Afternoon coffee break was organized in the lobby with complimentary coffee, tea and snacks. Complimentary fruit basket and snacks were in our room upon arrival, and two complimentary 0.5-liter bottles of water were left in our room every day. The floors in rooms and bathrooms were not perfectly clean, but housekeeping appreciated our complaint and vacuum cleaned again. The linen was changed every two days.

All in all, we were very satisfied.

Room Tip: The photos on the hotel web site are edited and the magnificent views from almost all rooms are stag...

We stayed 3 nights in Golden Horn in February. The location is good and the roof terrrace has a fantastic view . We were unlucky and got a room with no view, just a look in the nearest building. The breakfast could be better but the service from the staff is great. The room was nice but the beds were not as comfortable as I like them to be..

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view to the blue Mosqe
