Amazing place, I came for 2 nights and ended up staying for 2 weeks!
The hostel's in a great location, a very short distance from Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque in the middle of the Sultanhamet district, is clean with friendly staff and an excellent roof top bar. I'll be seeking it out again for my next trip to Istabnbul.

My experience in Orient hostel was only the Best. Me and my friends came to Istanbul and this place was that we found unexpectedly. Spent there few days with joy and parties on the roof terace, with good music and friendly party from all over the world. I can recommend this place for sure!

Orient Hostel was actually an ok place. The breakfast was tolerable, the cleaning standards were average, and the location was close to both the blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the tram.

But look out for the staff!

A group of young males in their twenties are apparently running the place, and they won't miss the opportunity to earn a little extra - even if it includes cheating you with "good" offers for dinners or bus tours.

- On our second day in Istanbul, they sold our group of 50 people a bus tour to Bilgi University. Price: 10 Lira per person. On the way back, 4 persons paid a total of 20 lira to go by taxi.

- On out last night in Istanbul, they sold our group a three-course dinner including transportation from the hostel to the restaurant and back. Price: 65 Lira per person. The bus ride turned out to be a 10-minutes drive, where we were driven around in a big circle. And there wasn't enough food.

Conclusion: If you only pay for the bed, it's ok staying at the Orient Hostel. But DON'T buy any of the services the staff will try to sell you - they'll cheat you!

I stayed here last summer two different times and loved it! The people are very nice and helpful. It has a great location near all the the tourist sites and the rooftop dining and bar is a wonderful place to relax. One of the best views in the city! When I go back to Istanbul, I will stay here!

Seriously. Don't think twice! You will not find a better, cleaner, safer, more pleasant, more reasonably-priced accommodation in Istanbul. Hands down the best value for your money! I am originally from Istanbul but have been living in the U.S. for 16 years. I am a college professor. This past summer, I brought ten students and a colleague with me to Turkey for a study abroad trip. Being from the city and having previously done my research firsthand, Orient Hostel was my uncontested choice. And all my students were practically enamored with the place. It is an excellent hostel at a perfect location. Just a few minutes of a walking distance to all the major attractions in the Sultan Ahmet district, such as Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, the Archaeological Museum, and the Museum of Islamic Art. And when you are up on the terrace having your breakfast or chilling out with a beer in the evening, both Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque are so close to you, you get dizzy feeling like you can almost reach out and touch them! Meanwhile, you turn your head to the other side and get a panoramic view of the Bosphorus! It is simply magical... As for the staff, they are polite, friendly and very helpful. And I honestly have no idea how they keep that place so clean! Every time I had to go to the bathroom or take a shower, no matter what time of the day or night, I was surprised to find the facilities spotless clean yet again! Last but not least, the owner, ONUR, is a truly great guy. He is pleasant, cordial, and extremely resourceful. He is also a travel agent and speaks perfect English, so he can help you with most of your travel accommodations within or outside Istanbul. My advice, in short: look no further. Make your reservations and don't even think about it again. Enjoy!

I lived in the orient hostel with a bunch of friends from Denmark in about 10 days. It was fantastic! The place is perfect, the coolest music being played there, you can sit up on the roof and drink overlooking the water where dolphins and other can be spotted. There are plenty of opportunities to get drunk on the spot in the city also, where the coolest bartenders will serve and drink with you for cheap money! Me and my friends had a great time there, definitely one of the coolest holidays in my life, you can not describe it, it must be experienced!
