“Good place for backpackers!”
Reviewed March 8, 2014

It was better from my expectations. The hostel interior look modern, well fit for backpackers. The value for prices are a lot more worth than it shown. It was clean, a place to sit and discuss with mates while drinking coffee (cause they have coffee bar too). They also got luggage room because they know there are so many backpackers came to the hostel

Downstairs, the have tennis table, breakfast place, pool (i thought so cause i saw the pool stick).

The room was clean. The heater was okay. The shower was okay also, like how a hostel should be. The only bad thing for the room/dorm were there were no wifi. Wifi didn't reached the rooms/dorms.

The location was excellent because it is near to both grand bazaar and sultanahmet. It is like in between.

The only negatives thing i can is that you will have people from all around the world, so there was this terrible thing happen to my girls, and it wasn't the hotel's fault. There were 3 guys entering the girls WC and there was only my girls in it. So they were shocked and scared and didn't know what to do. When we complained it to the stuff, they just say that it had never happened and it doesn't help us with anything at all.

I wouldn't say i will not recommend this hostel. But you must know that it is a hostel, we are sharing dorms and WC with other people from across the country. So maybe your privacy isn't well preserved and your belongings not well secured.

But what the hostel has given us, was much more worth than what we had paid. Thanks Cordial House Hotel. We will recommend this hostel to those who will like to backpacks to Istanbul someday

my friends and I recently stayed for 2 nights, from 4-6/3/2014 at room 203. below are some of advantages and disadvantages of this hostel :

ADVANTAGES :
- affordable price
- supermarket next to it
- at the center of city, not really far from metro station Cemberlitas
- clean rooms and toilets
- has a luggage room at the lobby to put your luggage bags if you intend to check out early yet still exploring the city
- spacious lobby to sit and relax
- table tennis downstairs

DISADVANTAGES :
- unfriendly staff
- shared bathroom, there was once when 3 guys entered the female bathroom to hairdry. this is very unpleasant
- no access to kettle / hot water after 10 pm
- bad WiFi connection in the rooms. excellent wifi is only in the lobby

I stayed here twice (5 nights and then 2 nights after returning from Cappadocia) on a recent trip to Turkey in mid-February 2014.

The first stay was for 5 nights in Room 111. I stayed in a double bed private room with bathroom (got it on sale for same price as smaller room). The room was clean and nice enough. The furniture and other things were a little worn around the edges but still not bad. Bed was comfy and nice warm blanket. Bathroom was ok and you can flush the toilet paper (in Turkey some places have squat toilets and some don't allow toilet paper to be flushed). Door leads out to balcony area without view, just sandwiched between building and shared area for like four other rooms to go onto.

My only complaints about my stay in THIS room is sometimes people hanging out inside near the front door at the bottom of the steps would get really loud for brief periods of time and noise would come right up the stairwell, not a huge problem and never noticed it very late. Also their was some kind of HVAC system that sounded like it was right outside the window that kicked on a lot, was fairly loud but never noticed it once I was asleep but could see it being a problem for some people

My second stay was for 2 nights. I again had a double private room with bathroom but was in 211 this times, directly above the previous room. I didn't have the second bed in this room which was fine since I was alone and it made it quite spacious. Other than that the room was basically the same (clean, comfortable, etc.). The balcony was more of private little deck still in boxed in area between buildings. Even though the door/window were basically in same spot as my previous room directly below it was MUCH quieter as far as inside and outside noise go.

This hotel is VERY close to Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar and everything around Sultanahmet area and still not far from the Palace and other museums there, just go along west side of Hagia Sophia and work your way around the street on backside and will take you straight to Gulhane Park gates to Palace etc. Street tram that will take you around or connect you to other lines is like a block north at the Cemberlitas stop, VERY convenient. It's really not even that terrible of a walk to Taksim if you don't feel like riding the tram or just like exploring on foot but there are very steep hills either way as you walk away from the Golden Horn area.

A few things I didn't like about this place:
-Sometimes basic things were a little confusing as staff I dealt with spoke little English.

-As others have said the breakfast is pretty basic but was better than the other place I stayed in Cappadocia. It's like $5 and was worth it for the convenience but it doesn't open until around 8AM so consider that if you have to leave earlier than that on a day. It's a little buffet of hard boiled eggs, bread, 2 types of cheese, olives, tomatoes and cucumbers. Juice and a few other things to drink. It was worth it only since I could go back for more and most of the major sites in Istanbul don't open until 9AM and you are already close to many of them. If you don't do the breakfast you aren't missing out on anything though.

-Some minor repairs around the place would go a long ways in making it a little nicer but again nothing was really bad. In room 111 the toilet lid isn't connected all the way with the seat. In room 211 the toilet was slightly loose from the floor and would actually rock a little bit and the handle on the room door was super loose.

-I didn't stay in one but I don't think the dorm rooms actually have "lockers" that you can put a lock on, but others should be able to clarify that.

If I end up in Istanbul again I would definitely stay here again despite a few minor little things.

Room Tip: If you are getting a private room try to avoid Room 111 if you are sensitive to a sometimes noisy en...

I stayed in Cordial House for 4 nights in February 2014 and definitely I would stay there again. I stayed in a single room with private bathroom. The room was very good, bed very comfortable, very clean. Common areas very pleasant. Staff really nice and always helpful. The only remark I do is about the breakfast, it is too poor, next time I would not include breakfast. The location is the THE BEST! 2 minutes walking from Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Grand Bazar. 1 minute walk to Çemberlitas stop from where you can get the metro to anyplace, including the airport (about 30 min. with 1 change of train). I expect to come back there!

From the beginning till the last moment I spend a great time in this hostel, met a nice people who are traveling around the world. The hostel reception hall and the kitchen is the best, all the people can chill, make friends and have a good time. I was staing in the room of 8 and was very clean, have everithing what you excepect from the hostel and very friendly people.

The location is perfect because you have everithing near, walking distance to Blue Mosque, Bazar, and the Bosforo. Also in the same street you have 2 supermarkets.

Really recommend this place for traveles who are visiting Istambul!!!
