“Best location, wonderful stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2013

Stayed here for 5 nights in November during our first trip to Istanbul. Could not have asked for a better location!! Close to everything you would want to see in the city. 2min walk to Topaki Palace, 3min to Haigh Sophia and 5 to Blue Mosque & Hippadrome. Amazing views day and night from the small restaurant upstairs. Had a triple room on the 2nd floor, and was quite comfortable. Room was always clean, and water pressure in the shower was good. Comfortable beds too. Upstairs restaurant has a good complementary breakfast every morning, and is a great way to start the day. Shuttle to/from the airport was very convenient as well. Also a cab stand right out front.
Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. When we arrived, were offered tea and sat to chat with the receptionist. Very friendly guy, and offered to take us on a quick tour of the area, as he was just about to end his shift. Took us around Sultanahmet, explaining some of the history, pointing out good shops and restaurants, and took us to his friends carpet shop, which was actually amazing. Situated in an old 800year hotel, three stories, amazing view of the blue mosque, and some of the best and most creative carpets we saw in Istanbul, hands down! Was quite a treat on our first night.
Throughout our stay, everyone was happy to help, from the pleasant guys at the upstairs restaurant, to reception, to the bell boys. Have a list of tours that you can go on, but we had already pre-arranged ours. Booked the Bosporus night cruise/show our first night, but would probably not recommend that to anyone, although it was pretty funny.
Overall, we had an amazing stay, and feel like we really lucked out with this hotel! Definitely will stay here again when we return to Istanbul.

Room Tip: If your a light sleeper, you can hear the water in the pipes through the walls on the lower room flo...

We are two female friends visiting Turkey for the first time. The Hotel Valide Sultan Konagi sent someone to pick is up at the airport, free if you stay for more than 3 nights. The free Turkish breakfast was full of variety and also included the American standard of cereal. As you eat, you are overlooking the Bosphorus and the Hagia Sophia. The view can't be beat.

The hotel staff took care of us in every way, offering us tea, carrying our bags, and most importantly helping us find a high quality travel agency (Eye Witness Travel Turkey) through which we booked trips to Ephesus and Cappadocia. We couldn't speak more highly of the hotel staff.

Also, our beds and pillows were quite comfortable. Showers were hot and had good water pressure.

We recently stayed at Valide Sultan. The staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. It was a fabulous location - walking distance to all the major sites. Rooms were very nice and clean. A fabulous roof terrace breakfast area. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Bosphorous

I stayed at the Sultan Valide in August and could not have been more impressed. It is a small, lovely boutique hotel with pleasant rooms, hospitable service, essentially in the middle of everything. Breakfast and dinner are served either indoors at a window-filled room or on the balcony overlooking the Bosphorus, Topkapi, Byzantine walls, and the Blue Mosque was visible from my room.....lit at night the vuew was stunning. Murat, at reception, a delightful man, takes the already high standards of this hotel to an even higher level. Murat speaks excellent English and is the go-to person for recommendations of places to dine, for entertainment, etc. He could not be more helpful and makes a tremendous effort to make his guests comfortable and to ensure that rthey enjoy their stay at this hotel. Rambo, the waiter in the restaurant is also delightful. The food is excellent and the views from this rooftop restaurant are superlative. I cannot recommend this hotel more highly. On top of the high quality, the price is more than reasonable. The lobby, the rooms, the service, and location speak to a higher price establishment. I could not find anything negative or even sub-standard about the Valide Sultan. I travel to Istanbul frequently, viewing it as my 2nd home.........I will most certinly be staying at this hotel on my next trip.

Room Tip: My room on the north offered a vie of the Blue Mosque, which lit at night is brethtaking.

We recently spent 5 nights in Istanbul at this hotel and loved it. The location is amazing. The dining and breakfast room was on the top floor with an outdoor terrace overlooking the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya and Topcapi Palace which was only a 2 minute walk away. The staff were lovely and they served an excellent buffet breakfast. The rooms were clean, a bit small but comfortable with an amazing view. We would definitely stay there if we returned to Istanbul. I hope we do one day soon.

We stayed here September 2013. This boutique hotel is clean and comfortable and the location is great. The hotel staff are cheerful, thoughtful, friendly and made every effort to help make sure that we had a positive and memorable experience during our stay. Breakfast on the terrace is a winner, with panoramic view of the sea and historic sites, offered something for everyone (turkish/continental) . I would definitely recommend and stay here again.
