“An enjoyable cozy stay in the heart of Sultanahmet”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

Wow it was a really interesting stay in sultan's inn. We stayed for 2 week there (which was quite long!) with my girlfriend and we enjoyed the whole days. I have to say that in the first look, I excepted a more spacious room based on the images I saw on the Internet before, but I think it was still fine.

They had a daily service of cleaning which was excellent. Whenever we needed cleaning, we just called the hotel reception and telling them about it. The cleaning lady was also a really nice lady.

The best part probably was when after having breakfast, we went on the terrace and enjoyed the view of the sea and the blue mosque at the same time! It was really cool.

The staffs were also very helpful. There were a couple of people over there ( kamil and ekrem I remember the names) which were always trying to help.

So I would difinately recommend this hotel. It's really a convenient one, specially when the budget really matters, cozy and almost cheap!

Pros: The location is good, in a neighborhood full of hotels a little behind the Blue Mosque and Hippodrome. It is about 10min walk to the Sultanamhet stop of the tram T1.
Very clean rooms, and very good toilets. Breakfast has a good variety.

Cons: The staff is not very friendly neither helpful in advice for sightseeing, but they will be willing to fix any issue you have with the room.
The walls are very thin and it can be noisy at night. It's a quite area, so not many cars passing.

Bottom line: Considering the price of hotels in this and other areas of Istanbul, this is a great option for budget hotel.

Very nice budget hotel in Istanbul. I had already been a guest at Sultan's Inn few years ago with friends, and when I went back to Istanbul with my partner in August 2012 I had no doubt.
Transportation-wise, getting to the hostel from the airport is quite easy. The location is perfect for walking around, as the hotel is just behind the Blue Mosque and the Aya Sofia.
What I love about this hotel is the buffet breakfast service, with a big variety of fresh food. In the summer you can have your breakfast on the rooftop terrace, in winter breakfast is served on the last floor, with a breathtaking view over the neighborhood and the mosques.

Nice place with friendly and helpful staff. Very noisy though. Woken several times during my week stay at midnight with noise. Reasonable room but there was not enough hot water to wash my hair. Location was fantastic.

Istanbul is like a labyrinth – but Sultan’s Inn is quaint little hotel/hostel, easy to get to from the airport via metro & tram.

We were checked in by the female receptionist who informed us of everything we needed to know including booking our transfer back to the airport in a few day’s time. A male receptionist took my case up the three flights of stairs (there is no lift) but my less able friend was left to carry hers.

Suat (different male receptionist) – speaks, Spanish, English & Turkish and is very helpful with booking tours and giving us information about everything and answered all our questions

Breakfast is a buffet supervised/prepared by a Sweet elderly lady. It consisted of:- boiled eggs, cheese, cucumber, pastries, potatoes with melted cheese, sausages, Homemade cakes (delicious!!) Tea, fruit juice, bread etc

Twin room small, not very spacious, nowhere to put your luggage but on the floor and to step over it. It is a non-smoking hotel, but we had smoke coming through the vent in the bathroom filling the room with a very strong smell of cigarettes. We complained to a first male receptionist but he seemed not to bothered nor willing to offer a resolution despite us being surrounded by non smoking signs. We informed Suat the next time we saw him and he was very reassuring that he would ask the other guests around us. After that we had a fresh smelling room again :)

The bathroom was otherwise lovely and clean but the Shower didn’t drain away quick enough so the water came up around our ankles and then spilled out into the floor.

Beds were comfortable but could have used an extra pillow. There is an old style tv and mini fridge, 1 wardrobe and 1 bedside cabinet also in the room.

The view from the terrace is amazing. I can imagine it would be 10 times better in the summer months.

Location – Ideal for short stay for sightseeing tourism, everything is within walking distance and you don’t need a tour to see them but we booked one anyway to get some of the extra information and because we had limited time in Istanbul to see what we wanted to see. Although Take earplugs, the Surrounding Mosques start their calls for prayer at 6am. You will hear it.

I booked this hostel ( i though thats what it was ) through hostelbookers.com thinking that i would be getting just exactly that...a hostel, but it was so much more. This place was like a hotel, excellent service, brilliantly clean, where your room is cleaned every day and towels and bedding changed everyday. The give you hand cream, shower gel and soap, breakfast is fine, but the best thing was the location. Two mins walk away from aya sofia, blue mosque and topkapi palace and the metro is on its door step so if you want to go further just hop on. I cant recommend this place enough. If I ever go back to istanbul i know where im staying.

There is a perfect place for inexpensive staying in Istanbul. Not too big, but cozy and comfortable rooms with a small refrigerator and conditioner. Very tasty breakfasts, helpful and affable staff and a magnificent view from a terrace on a roof. Location is great, 5 min by walk to the Blue mosque. Near the hotel there are many restaurants and gift shops.
