“Great day out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2013

We took the long trip. Leaves the Eminonu port (pier nearest the bridge) at 10:30am, but if you are going on a weekend and want the best seats get there an hour before hand. Buy the ticket (TL$25 return) just where you get the boat and not from the touts, you will not be on the boat you think you are going on if you do. You want to be on the left hand side of the boat for the best views, and you will find that the seats at the top look the most inviting, but so many people go to the top it gets very crowded and you will find yourself with people standing in front of you. Best seats for me are the ones that run down the side of the boat on the lower or first deck. No one stands in front of you, and you get a bit of shelter from the wind. Trip out takes 90 minutes, stopping at several other stops to pick up more passengers. The boat leaves Kavagi at 3pm sharp, so you have 3 hours. Walk up to the castle for some excellent views, stop at the restaurant near the top for a drink (and great view), but I hear the food is better at one of the many restaurants in town. The access into the castle is a bit hap hazzard. It was open (free entry) when we got up (although only part of it was accessable), but it closed about 5 minutes later with the guard trying to shoo people out. This would have been at about 1pm. Can't remember the name of the place we ate at, but it was good and cheep, and from what I hear fropm other travellers most people find this at any of the restaurants. Trip back takes 1 hour, so you are back at a little after 4pm. Great day out.

“Super cruise, great view!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013

Our group had a beautiful cruise with a ferry Turyol 2 without any stops. We had 2 hours of views of the both sides of Istanbul and go closer to Bosphorous... Beautiful houses on the both side... It was a nice day and we felt great... Worth it!!!

“Good visual, poor audio”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

We took the government ferry "Tur-yol" cruises, and they depart once every hour. It cost 12 TL for a return each per person and lasted 2 hours with no stops. It's just next to the Galata bridge where all the little boats are selling BBQ fish, and has a obvious sign, so look out for that and ignore the touts!

It was a gloomy day unfortunately but the views were still pretty. There was a commentary that would come on when we passed a place of interest but you could barely hear anything. Still nice to see the european and asian side of the Bosphorous. Would recommend if you have the time to spare. There are NO toilets so go before you board or you'll have to hold it in for 2 hours!

“Bosphorous by boat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2013

There are many ways to see both Asian and European sides of the Bosphorous. You can use the normal ferry which costs 12 TLR and stops several times or one of the other operators. The problem with the ferry is that it only runs once a day and the round trip is 6 hours. There are many more things to do with your time in Istanbul. The best bet is to go down to the dock at Eminou, by the Galata Bridge and try TurYol ferries. It will cost about 12 - 15 TLR and the journey is 1.5 hours. Or you can keep your head about you and see any of the touts and get the same trip for 10TLR. You he'd to see the boat first and check iy out before handing over any money. Coffee and drink on board is not expensive. A very good trip, worthwhile seeing.
