“Good view, if you have the time”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

Located in Sariyer district (35TL taxi ride from Galata), this fortress ruin is worth a visit if you have the time. The view of the narrowest point of the Bosphorus and the Bridge of Sultan Mehmed II from the vantage points of the Rumeli fortress is awesome.
However, it can be a bit dangerous because there are no railings or handles on the steps. The afternoon I visited was rainy and the steps were very slippery. The fortress is quite small so I can easily finish the tour in less than an hour.

“wonderful view on the Bosphorus”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

A bit difficult to reach, it takes 40 minutes from Kabataz on the bus 28 or 42. Admission is only 5 liras. A bit dangerous, stairs are old, some steps are mission, but a very beautiful view from the top of the towers. Area around is also very nice

That's a quite impressive fortress. There are no safety barriers or anything so it's fun to move around. Although it's a challenge for people who are afraid of heights to walk up all the way :) you also get a nice panorama of Bosphorus. Overall - visit it!

“The entry point of the Ottamans”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

This is worth a visit and the hard climb. The fortress was built to launch the invasion of Istanbul. They carried their boats over the hills from Rumeli to the Golden Horn.
If you are lucky, you might catch a concert in the fortress, usually during the Istanbul festival in June/July
