The hotel is in good location in Taksim Square, citiy center. BUT it has a big problem nowadays: there are constructions (new hotels) on all 3 sides of it and they run it 24 hours a day, you can't sleep in most of the rooms. I'd suggest you to stay there after all the construction has finished (in a year or so), not before.

Hotel is in a good place for business or shopping, but not ideal for the famous sights of Istanbul. Traffic is so bad you will spend your stay in a taxi! Ideal situation for an early morning airport bus, as these go from the end of the road (Taksim Square). The hotel is bright and modern with helpful staff and a reasonable buffet breakfast, but the site next door is a building site which works early and late. There is poor sound insulation between rooms so you will have to hope the roar of the airconditioning unit ( you can't open the window because of the building site noise) drowns out the TV in the room next door if you want to get any sleep. Room sizes are far from generous. We found everything working and clean, with a comfortable bed. You could be in any city, anywhere in the world. You can do much better in Istanbul for the same price, or less.

I would not recommend the Aygun Plaza: it could be anywhere on earth & is badly in need of renovation (the carpeting in my room looked old & quite filthy; the furniture was nothing to write home about, either). Its only good point is its location, near Taksim Square.
