Excellent location next to major attractions and tram. Organised tours and airport transfers do drop-offs/ pick-ups from this hotel. Rooms are adequate but pretty small. Breakfast is on the upper floor with a fantastic view of the Golden Horn part of Istanbul. Breakfast was pretty good. Gym is pretty small and you pay for extras (as I understand it) like the steam room, but at least there's some fitness facilities. Staff are the best assets of this hotel. They could not be more friendly or helpful. Overall a bit quirky, but the staff compensate for other shortcomings.

Dear Our Guests,

Thank you very much for your valuable review here about our hotel. It is a great pleasure to read that you enjoyed staying in our hotel and went home with memorable moments from Istanbul. We are delighted to learn that this was noticed and that you liked the staff and the facilities.

Regarding the room size we would like to explain you that in the Historical Peninsula nearly all of the buildings are historical and for this reason the rooms are smaller when we compare with the other hotels in the other parts of Istanbul ,however we have mentioned in our webpage that size of the rooms are 16-18m2 which is above average when we compare with the other hotels in this area.

Your feedback is very important to us as our guest satisfaction is our main priority.
We would love to welcome you back here again on your upcoming trips

Warm Regards
Hotel Yasmak Sultan

We love coming to this place as it offers everything we desire when it comes to accommodation in Istanbul: central location, clean place, not too loud, outstanding service and hospitality, coupled with tasty breakfast including a wonderful view over Istanbul.

As usual we had a corner room which is a bit larger, with a view of Hagia Sophia. You enter the roomt into a small corridor leading into the bathroom (sink, toilet, shower, size about 1.6m x 3m) straight ahead, and left to the main area of the room, where you will find a cupboard, a small settee, desk, fridge, a large double bed, and a sofa near the bay window looking at the Hagia Sophia (there is also space for a baby bed which we needed). TV and A/C are present, too, of course. This time we have been on the 5th floor, and there is one caveat: the roof is sloping there, so the height of the room close to the settee is lower - nothing bad, just need to keep it in mind when you stand up...

Breakfast takes place on the last floor, which is essentially a huge covered indoor terrace with a view over the Bosporus and Hagia Sophia. You will find all sorts of dishes there, sweets, fruits, bread, cheese, vegetables, fresh juices, and you can also order something like omelette, etc. Nothing left to be desired.

Their spa is small but cosy and a great place to be: a small pool, along with a Hamam and sauna (these two are with charge, EUR 10 per person, the pool is free) are enough to relax there for some hours. They also have a gym area there, which we didnt use, though.

On the day of our departure, we asked for late checkout, which was granted without even any argument, and later they moved us to another room for a very decent compensation to stay even longer. AAA+++ for that. Hospitality in general is written with a capital H there - every single stay was a unique experience, so we intend to come back soon!

My wife and I stayed at Yasmak Sultan for 6 nights. Hotel transfer from the airport was complimentary and completely on time. This made for a nice and easy commute to the hotel. The hotel is centrally located within the old district of Istanbul and close to all major sights. The room was a nice size and the decor fit in very well with our surroundings. We had a corner room on the fifth floor with an amazing view of the Hagia Sofia. Front desk staff were friendly and courteous and assisted us whenever we asked for help.
This review would have been a solid 4 our of 5 was it not for the poor housekeeping. Although we only arrived on the Saturday I booked the room from the Friday evening as we had an arrival of 6am on the Saturday. Naturally after a long flight we made use of the bathroom etc. The room however was not service at all on the Saturday. On three days we had to phone housekeeping as no toilet tissue was put into the room. And on Tuesday we arrived after a long day to a room that was once again not serviced at all. As housekeeping was still active in the corridor I went to them to complain but all I got was "don't worry, we do tomorrow". It might sound as if I am picking a bone where none is to be picked but you do expect a certain level of service in a four star hotel. Breakfast was good with a large selection and some variation from day to day. Overall a good hotel but housekeeping definitely needs a wake up call.
******
The above was my initial review of the hotel although I only gave them 3 out of 5. Since my review was published the hotel contacted me via e-mail and telephone to express their regret that my stay was not perfect. I truly believe that Yasmak Sultan strives to be an excellent hotel and although we had a few mishaps I have decided to change the review from a 3 to a 4. Maybe just a tip should you stay there: don't phone housekeeping directly if you have issues. Rather work through the front desk and make sure that Management are aware of the problems.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Hagia Sofia

The hotel is in a perfect location in old town, if you exit the hotel and turn left you are 5 minutes away from blue mosque/aya sophia, exit on your right and you are 5 minutes from some great restaurants & bospherous tours etc. I give 4/5 because the power got cut at least 5 times during our 7 day stay, at one point the power cut when I was in the lift which was quite scary despite it coming back on in a minute or so, it also cut off when we were in the pool and when we were in the middle of watching a movie one night. Apart from this, rooms are clean, water pressure is good, our room was a nice size despite us booking the smallest/cheapest one. Staff are friendly and helpful especially at breakfast. We were charged 120 lira for bospherous tour from hotel which we later realised you can get a tour for 15 lira per person if you just walk down to where all the boats are 5 min away (just a tip). The pool is small but luckily there was nobody there the two times we went so it was the perfect size for us as a couple. Overall happy with the stay and it really is the perfect location which rules out the few negatives.
