“Great location but not 5 stars”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2013

Location is great. This is 3.5 stars for US standard. Rooms are very small. Air conditioning really does not work. Breakfast is nice but not spectacular. Check the room if you can before renting. The terrace is nice and has nice view.

We arrived at the hotel to be checked in by Elena who sat down with us for at least 15 minutes to explain all that the hotel and surrounding city had to offer. We have stayed in many hotels around the world but have never had such an informative and comprehensive welcome. Our room was quite cosy but comfortable, the decor was slightly dated in contrast to the smart, stylish fit out in the reception and bar area downstairs. The ensuite was spacious and the amenities were sufficient (although a face cloth or two would have been appreciated).
We had breakfast on the terrace where the buffet offering was adequate.
The hotel was situated within easy walking distance of all the main sights and we enjoyed two evening meals at nearby restaurants. I can thoroughly recommend an open air restaurant in the Arasta Bazaar - up the road from the hotel - offering an authentic turkish dining experience complete with live band, whirling dirvish dancer and hookah pipes! (but no alcohol). We loved the apple tea instead.
The Arasta Bazaar was a pleasant way to look at the jewellery, rugs, ceramics etc without too much pressure. The Grand Bazaar was worth visiting but the pressure from the stall holders was intense and intrusive. A visit to the Topkapi Palace is a must. Go early to avoid the crowds.
I would recommend Eresin Crown unreservedly. Probably one of the top places to stay in the area.

We truly enjoyed our visit to Istanbul in May 2013, and this hotel's convenience and friendliness were a part of our overall great experience. It's a very pleasant, convenient boutique hotel in walking distance to several of the famous sites, including the Blue Mosque and a charming pedestrian market area (be prepared to encounter many friendly but assertive carpet salesmen). The rooms were adequate in size with a lot of amenities, including free water, snacks, and a small souvenir. Nicely appointed bathroom with jacuzzi tub. The beds were comfortable. The morning buffet breakfast was great. We were not served on the terrace as others mentioned, but in the restaurant at the lobby level (perhaps due to weather when we were there). The buffet spread was great with all sorts of cheeses, meats, breads, fruit and halvah. Dinner is also served at the hotel, but we walked around the neighborhood as there are many other restaurant options close by.
As noted by other reviewers, the call to prayer occurs throughout the city, 5 times a day, including the very early morning one and one around bedtime. It lasts a few minutes and the loudspeakers are all around the area (there was one right outside our window). If you are sensitive or a light sleeper, as I am, you'll probably be awakened by it (think about earplugs). Some other guests we met at the hotel commented that they didn't hear anything, so perhaps a heavy sleeper wouldn't notice.
In summary, we would highly recommend this hotel and if we go back to Istanbul, would stay there again.
Note: the hotel's direct website offers some specials, including a senior rate, which we took advantage of, and saved some money. :)

Hotel is about 25 minutes by taxi from Ataturk airport, right next to the Blue Mosque.

Welcome and service are excellent. Hotel is very clean and tidy.

An absolute MUST is dinner on the roof terrace with wide views over the sea, the beautifully illuminated Blue Mosque in other direction and part of old Istanbul in between.

Our room was on the smaller side, but had whirlpool bath. Aircon worked well. In all it was sufficient for a short break.

In my opinion this is a solid 4* hotel, but not a 5* hotel.

Tip: if you are a light sleeper, pack some ear plugs. Otherwise morning prayers may wake you up. There are a lot of mosques with large speakers in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the blue mosque.

This is a wonderful property with helpful staff although it is not a five star hotel in the overall sense of that rating. Upon checking in a staff member sits with you and a map to show you where the main tourist attractions are relevant to the hotel's location. They also give you other tour/dinner show brochures. Our room was not ready when we arrived; so, they sent us to the rooftop terrace area and gave us a tasty orange and peach juice drink while we waited. The room was not going to be ready so the reception staff came and offered to move us to a different room: sitting on the rooftop overlooking the sea was not a hardship. They also gave us two complimentary beers and asked if we wanted more. We ultimately found that only the first two were complimentary. Again, no big deal.

Went to the room and was surprised to see if had two twin beds in a Deluxe room. It was larger than the room we stayed at in Ankara at a modern hotel. Still, it was a bit weird. The bed was comfortable & husband said his was as well. We found that the dead bolt did not work in the room (too tired to really care the first night) and when we woke up the next morning there was water dripping from the ceiling - figured it was condensation from air conditioning unit. We reported both to the desk and both were fixed when we returned to the room after a full day of touring. That evening, the electricity went off in the room. Called the desk and they said they'd send someone immediately. We went to dinner at the rooftop restaurant which has remarkable views & efficient staff. Upon our return there was still no electricity. We called and less than 5 minutes later the lights were on. The staff truly tries to meet your needs.

One comment about the tub/shower combination. It is taller than most tubs and there are not many safety bars. It's not the easiest tub/shower to get into. There is also only a short length of glass to keep the water from spraying out of the shower/tub. It doesn't do a very good job of it. but it looks elegant. This obstacle course of a shower/tub became an issue when I hurt my knee and had to get in & out of it. Even with my husband's help it was difficult. The water pressure was great and all the toiletry items are provided. Great towels, too!

Believe everything about the quality of sleep, the lovely lobby, the charming rooms, the amazing staff. It's all very true. When I came limping in after a day of touring, I asked for a bag of ice which was provided & the staff offered to call a doctor. I was impressed with their concern. If you don't want to hear the daily calls to prayer, you may not wish to visit Turkey. Being awaken by it was part of the charm of Turkey and staying in the Old City. Our tour guide asked us how we found this hotel as most Americans seem to want to stay in American hotels. We said, the travel agent. This is a great place to stay when visiting Istanbul & despite the few setbacks, if I come again, I will seek out the Eresin Crown.

Nice hotel for tourists. Sleeping rooms very clean and comfortable, if modest in size, but not tiny. Good shower-plenty of hot water. Bed very comfortable. Beautiful rooftop dining at breakfast with a nice variety of foods. Excellent service from staff all around.
Great room service, free drinking water bottles, very unusual. Normally other hotels supply one or two complementary bottles. Every day the toiletry supplies with slippers supplied without fail.
Reception desk area had figs, walnuts and dry fruits in bowl for nibbling. Lap top near the reception desk for personnel and also free Wi-Fi. Staff is always ready to please you.
Walking distance from the blue mosque and restaurants.
Tourists will not regret staying in this hotel. Note: Every morning one can hear the "Allah oh Akbar" so one must be prepared for that.

This hotel is located around the corner from the Blue Mosque. The location could not be better. The rooms are a nice size by urban standards and the hotel is beautifully managed with great service. When they were buliding it they found some antiquities that are on display in the restaurant and lobby.
