This hotel is not 5 star - BUT - the location is great and really all you need is a clean bed and hot shower - and for that - this hotel fits the bill. I had read some of the negative reviews and had been thinking of changing but I am glad that I stayed here. The staff are OK and the breakfast is not bad. If you want the usual American breakfast when travelling in Turkey or Central Asia then you will be out of luck. After two weeks in Turkey I am getting used to the Turkish breakfast and enjoying the dried fruit and bread. Why travel if you are eating and sleeping like you did at home. This is all part of the experience and I think that this hotel is well worth staying in. The wifi internet is also good here.

The Eresin Crown is perfectly located for all the main tourist sights - within 5 minutes of the Blue Mosque and also close to the Haghia Sofya, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar etc. And for further afield the hotel is 5 minutes from the nearest tram stop. Yes, wherever you are in the hotel you will hear the call to prayer at all the surrounding mosques - by the 3rd night we had got into the routine to fall back to sleep after the 'dawn chorus' at 5am!! We were in a deluxe room at the front for two days and then upgraded to a suite for our final two days. The streetnoise that others refer to did not disturb us - frankly if you are disturbed by the vibrant personality of Sultanhamet, then go and stay in a modern formula brand in the modern part of Istanbul on the other side of the Golden Horn.

We had dinner on the rooftop restaurant - the service was friendly and brisk, without being rushed, the food was excellent and the views (particularly through sunset) were stunning. Actually all the staff throughout the hotel were friendly, welcoming and could not do enough for us. The airport tranfers which were included in the price were slick and comfortable.

There seem to be a real mushrooming of boutique hotels in the old city - I am sure there will be some that are more stylish or trendy, with more facilities and 'luxury', but I thought the Eresin Crown represented great value for money - and you cannot beat the location

This is a small but quaint hotel located in the old part of Istanbul. It's rated as a 5 star but I would say it's more a 4 star hotel when comparing it to 5 stars like a Four Seasons. Having said that, it was a good find with excellent service, comfortable and well appointed rooms with a great roof top restaurant overlooking the Blue Mosque. No complaints.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the main street if possible if you want quiet.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel until we left the service was exceptional. The staff at reception were very helpful. The hotel was clean, breakfast good. This was a small hotel which made it more intimate. There were helpful guide books in the hotel. Toiletries were replenished every day. Was given a box of chocolates on leaving. Would definitely use this hotel again. Great base foe all the sites in Sultanamet.

Located in the "ancient" section of Istanbul, the Eresin Crown is within walking distance of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Hippodrome, etc. and has very good nearby restaurants. Although it is a bit on the pricey side, the location makes it worth the price. The rooms are wonderful and the service excellent. Employees are more than helpful and the breakfast is plentiful and good.
