There for 3 days in mid-August 2011. Room was nicely appointed and well-maintained. My wife felt a little under the weather, and the staff was very helpful in looking after us while we were there.

I have nothing but compliments about this hotel. Everyone employed here speaks wonderful English and works very hard at making the guest stay a most positive experience. The balcony restaurant is so nice for breakfast as well as dinner. The artifacts that are displayed in the lobby and the conference rooms are beautiful! This is a perfect place to call "home" while in Istanbul on vacation.

The Eresin Crown Hotel is in a great location close to the Sultan Ahmet Mosque and Aya Sofia, and it has a splendid breakfast buffet (and the staff will make you Turkish coffee on request if you don't like the wishywashy filter stuff). The evening meal I had (as part of a group) on the first night was pretty awful, though. The hotel has some interesting archaeology in the lobby, and a nice selection of books about Istanbul, Islamic art and architecture etc., to read while waiting in the lobby. But the room had its problems, not least the fact that it took for ever (5 mins or more) to get even lukewarm water for a shower - and for a hotel that aspires to green credentials, wasting that much water doesn't make sense. I had another room for one night where the hot water was OK. However, at the price, the plumbing should be flawless.

We stayed in this hotel a total or 4 nights while in Istanbul. The rooms were beautiful and well appointed. Very clean! Each room has it's own air conditioning unit (a must in Istanbul in the summer) a lovely over sized jetted bath tub, robes and slippers, etc. The lobby is beautiful, with nuts and fresh fruit always available. There's free wifi in the lobby with a desk top computer for your use. There's also wifi in the room. Their terrace is lovely offering great views of the city and especially the Blue Mosque. Breakfast is served on the terrace under retractable awnings. The selection is extensive and delicious. Their location is perfect! We walked to all of the big sites; Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, The Grand Bazaar, Hippodrome, etc.. It is also within walking distance to their tram system. The staff is wonderful! At breakfast one morning towards the end of our trip, my 16 year old son became ill (fever, sore throat, nausea...it had nothing to do with breakfast!). At that point only the maitre de was aware that he was sick. Within minutes of returning to our room we got a call from the front desk offering to bring a Dr. to the hotel at no charge to us, as well as free room service so that he didn't need to leave the room to eat. They also gave us a deeply discounted price on a separate room for him. We loved this hotel and would definitely stay here when we return!

We stayed here twice over a two week period.

Positives -- Fantastic location with an easy walk to the Hippodrome, Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. Outstanding service, great breakfast with a view. The hotel is so very excellently located.

The Eresin Crown deserves it regal name. I would classify it as a boutique hotel, intimate enough to be a friendly, personable hotel where the staff knows you and remembers little things like who gets tea and who gets coffee at breakfast.

We stayed here in July 2011 about two weeks apart. While the Eresin Crown's rooms were a bit smallish for our party of three, it didn't seem cramped. On our return to the hotel, the A/C unit wasn't operating properly. They promptly sent a serviceman to look at it and he tried to fix it. When that failed, they moved us to another room (which, by coincidence, was our room on our initial stay).

While our A/C didn't operate as expected initially on our return, I judge service on how a hotel handles it. Things break. Our situation was resolved quickly, efficiently and without a lot of fuss. That's great service in my book.

A nitpick on my part was the WiFi access. At the prices charged (and we are Americans with sticker shock), WiFi should have been included free. There is no free access anywhere in the hotel. However, I will say the hotel staff allowed me to log onto the computer in the lobby to get seat assignments and print off my boarding passes for my next destination.

Hint: The Doy-Doy restaurant nearby is a great, cheap dinner with a rooftop view. Try the Iskender kabob!

Overall, the Eresin Crown Hotel is an extremely good choice for travelers who want convenient access to the Sultanahmet

My wife and I, seasoned independent travellers in our 60s, made a 3-1/2 week tour of western Turkey. We stayed at this hotel for five nights and spent four full days touring Istanbul. If you hate hotels overrun with tour groups, this hotel is for you -- it caters to independent travellers, businessmen, and small upscale tours (a small medical conference [with some touring thrown in] was there when we were, which made for some interesting conversations and didn't make the hotel feel crowded). Hotels in the Sultanahmet district of Istanbul are older, boutique hotels, and even if renovated, tend to have small rooms -- we booked a room one level up from standard, figuring that that would give us a slightly larger room. Even so, it was small. But you don't book a hotel in Sultanahmet to get luxury, spas or swimming pools -- you choose one because it is a three minute walk to the Blue Mosque and then only a few minutes more to the Hagia Sophia and many other sights. And despite the cost (location in Istanbul is everything, and you pay for it), it was a great hotel for us and I recommend it unreservedly. The hotel actually has some museum quality Roman pieces recovered from the property on display in the elegantly furnished public rooms -- a nice touch. Their buffet breakfast, served on the fifth floor terrace in nice weather (great views), is excellent. The staff are helpful and gracious. We ate most nights in their restaurant -- most others seem to go out to nearby local places, get picked up by their hosts (businessmen) or are bused off to some evening activity (hamam experience, belly dancing show or Bosphorus tour) with included dinner. The food was good (though the restaurant can feel empty at times), especially if you selected Turkish dishes -- they do a better job on these than on "international cuisine". On nice evenings the terrace is open for drinks and dinner -- a great way to relax after a busy day or touring.

We enjoyed our stay here immensely. It's in a prime location and the service was over the top. Be aware, though, that this is more a 4 star hotel than a 5.
I suggest asking for a room with a view, in a quiet location. I also needed a pad to soften the bed. Also, there is no free internet in the room, though the lobby is a lovely place to catch up on work and email.
Be sure to enjoy the rooftop view. It's especially wonderful at sunset when six mosques call everyone to prayer. Very magical.
