The location is excellent, a quiet oasis near the biggest tourist area and some very good restaurants nearby. The hotel staff are quite helpful, the rooms attractive. Breakfast is generous and excellent. This is a gem!

Room Tip: We had one room facing the Bosporus; then came back and had a room facing the Blue Mosque. Both wer...

We stayed here for 5 nights and paid extra for a junior suite, a lovely room (310) with stunning views over the Bosphorus and a side balcony which also had vies of the Blue Mosque. The room was a decent size with a seating area and a corner jacuzzi bath with a window to the seating area (it had a blind you could pull if required) so you could sit in the bath and look out to sea. I think this room was probably a lot bigger than the standard rooms so we were glad we had booked it.

The location is great, adjacent to one of the smaller bazaars and within easy walking distance of the main attractions in the area; Blue Mosque, Haghia Sophia, Cistern and Topkapi Palace. Also walkable to the Grand Bazaar, Spice Market and Galata Bridge, which can also be reached by the cheap and regular tram service which runs nearby.

There is a good variety of breakfast items, including some hot items, cheese & cold meats, fruit, yoghurt, bread, cereals etc. The restaurant has a large terrace and sea views. There is also a beautiful and peaceful courtyard to the front. Yes, yet get woken up by the call to prayers until you get used to it, but there are many mosques in Istanbul and this is part of the experience of staying there.

Staff were very helpful and we got a free pick up from the airport. There is free wi-fi and also a computer and printer in reception for guests to use - v helpful for on-line check-in! The hotel was clean and well looked after. The bed was very comfortable.

We would highly recommend and would return.

Room Tip: Room 310 was lovely - at the back with a full width view over the Bosphorus, a side balcony which al...

I and three friends have just returned from 5 nights at the Sultanahmet Saray and found it to be pretty well perfect. Its overwhelming advantages include its proximity to the Blue Mosque and Haghia Sofia, a key tram stop, and many good restaurants (among a huge selection of overpriced and frankly lousy alternatives - do your research carefully and you will eat well). Breakfasts were excellent, front desk highly competent and helpful, waiting staff and porters friendly, human and efficient (a rare combination!), unsurpassable views front (the Blue Mosque from their charming garden) and back (the Sea of Marmara from the sunny breakfast terrace), and rooms ranging from stunning to good. True, the bathrooms are a trifle cramped, but the reward is a shower to match any hammam. If I could own a hotel anywhere in the world, it would be this one: somewhere to be proud of, with a thoroughly willing, cheerful and professional staff. We all agreed that we would unhesitatingly use it again.

Room Tip: The "de luxe" rooms are worth the extra for the views and additional space.

This comfortable, charming hotel was just perfect for the birthday treat long weekend I had in mind. I chose the deluxe room with balcony overlooking the sea. Gorgeous views. It did not get the evening sun but the lovely garden facing the Blue Mosque certainly does. It is perfect for walking to all the main sights and within easy walking of the trams. We ate dinner there one night and it was delicious. The staff are welcoming and helpful. You might find the bathroom a little awkward but room 211 was worth the extra money! I would definitely go there again.

Room Tip: Room 211 was lovely. It has a balcony overlooking the sea. Ignore my rating of pool . And fitness c...

I can fully recommend the Sultanahmet Palace Hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay in the central districts. It is located in short walking distance to all the major attractions, has excellent staff and service, the rooms are good quality. The Hamam style bathrooms are very relaxing and lots of fun. The staff helped us out in all our queries and were a greta and very professional help during our stay there.

Room Tip: The rooms toward the front have a very nice view of the Blue Mosque. Much recommended.

We had 4 days at the hotel - cant fault the location - right by the Blue Mosque and note that the map on Tripadvisor is wrong it is not where shown on that map. Comfortable room - with view of a car park but honestly when the Blue Mosque is only 50m away it did not matter. Comments are made about the bathrooms by other reviewers - they are small and have a shower plus a marble basin ( in addition to normal wash basin) this means you can shower in the usual way or fill the basin with water and having soaped yourself all over rinse off with the metal bowl provided - actually that was very efficient and much less mess than a shower - there is a marble seat to sit on while you throw the water over you - you do need to be a bit sprightly to get around the loo door without standing in the shower area but that was not a problem for us. Good range of options for breakfast buffet at the hotel - we did not eat a meal here but tried the many restaurants in the area instead -= would recommend Amedros off side street near the Sultanahamet tram stop. All in all Istanbul was a real eye opener - amazing city with lots to see.
