Blue House is an older style hotel but very clean and comfortable. It is ideally located within a short walking distance from both the Aya Sofia and the Blue Mosque and other attractions as well as being very close to tram and bus routes. We had a corner room overlooking the Blue Mosque. The staff were very helpful and we would definitely recommend Blue House to travellers to Istanbul.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Blue Mosque.

A major part of the enjoyment of our visit to Istanbul was staying at the Blue House Hotel.

Virtually all the staff made us feel that they genuinely wanted our stay to be the very best experience not soley at their hotel but for everything involved in visiting one of the most interesting cities in the world. We had 3 different rooms in 3 different stays between visiting Ephesus & Dubrovnik. Two with direct view of the Blue Mosque which is a must. Also wonderful view available from patio when having a very good breakfast or drinks & food in the evening. Rooms are fairly standard size for a boutique style hotel anywhere in the world.

Their are dozens & dozens of similar style hotels in the Sultanamhet area which reminded me of sections of San Francisco. It is frenetic with tourists because of walking distance to most of the major attractions such as already Blue Mosque, Haga Sophia, Topkapi Palace & the Grand Bazar.
The area is chock full of restaurants & shops especially carpet & ceramics . A word of warning here.Whilst by far the greater majority of shopkeepers " do the right thing" while trying quite hard, in a generally fun way, to make a sale there is certainly one ceramics / carpet shop owner( Orhan Cevik , Iznik - Fine Art gallery ) in the area who I would recommend not dealing with. In an incident subsequently handled by the local Police he forged my signature & made a number of fraudulent transactions on my Visa card. A person with close connections to the Blue House & another local businessman could not have been more helpful in this matter. It was the only bad experience of our whole stay in Istanbul ,which I would recommend for anyone including staying at the Blue House Hotel.

Room Tip: A room with view/s of Blue Mosque.

The Blue House Hotel is very close to the Blue Mosque-Hagia Sophia-Topkapi Palace in the Sultanahmed area of Istanbul. The terrace overlooks the Blue Mosque and serves a nice dinner. The rooms are updated and baths are well appointed. The hotel serves a nice breakfast on the main floor patio with a variety of items . The staff were very helpful and I would highly recommend this hotel -just for the location alone. The staff can arrange tours as well as transportation.

Room Tip: The fourth floor was very quiet and convenient.

I am an old hand with Istanbul, but had never stayed overnight in the Old City. A friend recommended Blue House as I wanted to be in Sultanahmet, and I am glad I took her advice. My room was comfortable, clean, quiet, and the hotel itself felt secure. The view out my window to the Blue Mosque? Stunning. And the location allowed me to walk to all the major attractions (Aya Sofya, Mosaic Museum, Arasta Market, etc.) Merve hanim's team was courteous, helpful, and all spoke good English. I did not have the opportunity to eat at the roof top restaurant, but the views there were even more stunning. Plus the menu had a good variety of typical Turkish dishes. And to top it off the room rate was a fraction of what I've paid for five-star, international brand hotels elsewhere in the city. If you want to be near the tourist sites and don't want to spend Four Seasons money, this is the way to go!

The Blue House Hotel is perfectly located from almost everything you want to see in Istanbul (in the old quarter - Sultanahmet). It is 100m from the Blue Mosque and 300-400m from Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace. The famous and very luxurious Ayasofia Hamam is also 100m away if you are up for a traditional Turkish body scrub and massage (worth it just to see the stunning interior of the building)! The hotel is very pretty, the rooms are lovely and the staff are very helpful. When we happened to mention that there had been a problem with airconditioning in our airport shuttle, they left a complimentary fruit basket in our room while we were on the rooftop having lunch at their surprisingly good and not too expensive restaurant. Make sure you have a meal or a drink from the rooftop during your stay - it has 360 degree views and the view of the Blue Mosque at sunset is amazing. I would highly recommend this lovely, little hotel.

our excitment started the moment we entered the crowded lanes trying to locate our hotel. just a stones throw form the wide tarred 6 lane sea side roads, in the crowded mosque by lanes neatly tucked in is the blue house hotel. you are met with a warm yet professional reception with a clear listing of all facilities at the reception. the rooms are small and i mean real small with hardly any leg space which initially was claustrophobic but on settling in the perfect housekeeping and all facility room grows on you. a small walk and you've covered all 'must see' attractions. also walking distance are the grand bazaar and shopping hubs, i,e if you want a true flavour of the city and are not there for Mall hopping. As for the hotel itself :-
neat rooms
good food ( though id advise nearby eatries which offer a wide choice and are pocket friendly)

I spent my first few nights in Istanbul at the Blue House and absolutely loved it. The views from the rooftop are perfect! The view spans the historic district of Instanbul including the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sofia! Call to Pray can be heard loud and clear from several nearby mosques just before sunrise so if you don't want an early wake up call, this may not be the place for you.
