Like others have mentioned, the hotel is in a great location and is very close to sights in old city Istanbul. The breakfast was great and the staff very friendly and attentive. The room was great too, it was small but clean and comfortable. We really loved our time in Istanbul and at the Avicenna Hotel.

I stayed two days with my wife from Dec30 to Jan1.Our room was a little small, but clean and we could get relaxed. It's aiso near the sightseeing places and very convenient. On the last day,we had to leave early in the mornig and couldn't use the breakfast service. But kind staffs made sandwiches and brought them to our room.We felt really happy about that.

Dear Guest,

We are very glad for your comment.

The location of our hotel is great for the people who want to disvover the historical penninsula of Istanbul. We are just 3 mn. away from the Blue Mosque and 10 mn. away from the Topkapı Palace.

Our goal, as the Avicenna Hotel staff, is to make you comfortable and give you the best experience of Istanbul. We are happy to hear from you that we achieved our goal.

Warm regards,
Fikriye Yılmaz

Perfect location, you can walk to the city centre easily. Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Aya Sofiya, Basilica Cistern, as well as the access to the Golden horn/seafront is all in walking distance.
The people working there are nice and friendly, I was coming to the friend's wedding, so they arranged a hairdresser for me, many thanks for that.
Good variety for breakfast, number of TV channels on different languages, including Russian, English and German. Free wifi, though the signal in the room was quite weak. But in the lobby and the dining area was perfect.
Room was cleaned everyday. I really enjoyed the style of the room- we had a pink lamp in the wall above the bed, such a nice romantic atmosphere, I liked it :-)
I think it was a good value for money. It is a nice, quite, cosy and atmospheric little hotel, a good option for couples.

Dear Guest,

We would like to thnak you for your comment on Trip Advisor.

Our Hotel is 5mn to Blue Mosque by walking and 15 mn to the Grande Bazaar. So our location is great.

But it's not enough for us. The service is also very important. Our Hotel staff makes their best to help you.

We wouls like to see you again in our Hotel,

Best regards,

Having read some reviews before our visit we were a little worried about whether we had made the right decision. We ended up having a wonderful long weekend in Istanbul, celebrating my birthday.

Before our stay my husband had been in touch with the staff to arrange a birthday cake, roses and breakfast in bed for me on my birthday. The staff went to so much effort and really made it special for me, including sparklers and singing! It was lovely. My husband said he found the staff incredibly helpful in all his dealings with them, as did I when we arrived.

We had a room with a balcony, with stunning views over the Bosporus albeit straight underneath there were derelict properties and a railway, this is a city after all and these kind of buildings were to be expected somewhat in the historical old part of Sultan Ahmet. The room itself was tiny and the reason I have given the hotel 4 stars is partly due to the room and the poor shower. Unfortunately the bathroom wasn't very good and the shower was practically a trickle of water. A little disappointing.

We do not however regret staying in the historical part of Istanbul as this hotel was perfectly located. We loved the cobbled streets, the lovely little restaurants, the walk to and from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. All very quaint and beautiful. The hotel is so close to all the major sites, I think this is the selling point!

Another reason for 4 stars rather than 5 was the breakfast. It was not terrible but it was not great. Just a little more variety and it will be perfect, perhaps management will take this in to account and also offer some juices. The orange juice was extortionate and normally juices are included in bed & breakfast hotels. Again, a little disappointing to have to pay for juice.

Lastly, our final niggle was as a result of the tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Normally tea bags and hot water are free for guests, in all other hotels we have been to, and we have travelled to many cities. To find that we had to pay for the tea bags was outrageous. Perhaps management will also take this on board and make the necessary changes, it isn't a deal breaker but it is certainly goodwill to allow guests a free tea bag!

Overall we had a wonderful time and location wise we made the best decision to stay at the Avicenna. Istanbul is a fabulous city with so much to offer, we need to return as it was impossible to see everything in one trip!

Thank you Avicenna.

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank you for posting your comment on TripAdvisor.

We are very happy to read your review, and are glad that you came our hotel despite some of the negative reviews. We are doing our best to give you a good experience of Istanbul. Our rooms are very clean and since we are in a historical building we cannot make a changement for the size of our few rooms.

We will take in consideration your remarques. Thank you for sharing them with us.

We look forward to welcoming you back on many occasions.

Best regards,
Fikriye

Great location! Near the Blue Mosque, Ayasofya, Topkapi Palace and Basilica Cistern (must sees!). Also Grand Bazar on walking distance. From the back of the hotel you have a beautiful view over the Bosporus and the Asian part of the city.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Our room was cleaned every day, fresh new towels etc. Breakfast was nice, fresh bread etc. The staff was very alert on empty plates and glasses. They take their jobs very seriously.
I really recommend this hotel because of the location, good price/quality and nice staff.

Room Tip: Get a room at the back of the hotel. It is very quiet and on the 2nd floor you have a beautiful view from your balcony!
