“Great location but room could be better”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights on our first trip to Istanbul. The Hotel is in a fantastic location, right in the centre of Sultanahmet and 2 minutes walk from the Blue Mosque and Arasta bazaar. There are a tonne of great restaurants nearby and the hotel itself has a good terrace restaurant. Our room was in the very top of the building with a balcony and view out the back overlooking the bosphorous river which was fabulous. But the room was a little disappointing, mainly because the air conditioning didn't work and the room was boiling hot and the patio door broke on the first night so we then couldn't lock it. But it was clean and the bathroom was nice, the bed was comfortable and the room was pretty if a little small. Breakfast could be taken inside or outside in the courtyard and there was a good choice of cheeses, cereals, fruits and breads. As others have said, fruit juice is available but at extra cost. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel can be noisy so ask for one at the top of the hotel with a balcony b...

In Sultanahmet area very close to Sultanahmet (Blue) Mosque, Aghia Sofia and Topkapi. Rooms on top floor are small and bathroom tiny.

One does get woken up at 6.00am by the call to prayer from Sultanahmet mosque.

Nice helpful staff. Breakfast was OK but not special, coffee was Nescafe instant, orange juice was extra.

Didn't use restaurant for dinner as area around is filled with decent restaurants.

Room Tip: Avoid top floor as they are in the eaves.

- Breakfast was supposed to be included. We got peas with onions one morning and boiled onions another morning along with the usual cheese, olives and cold meat. If we wanted fresh orange juice, it was charged extra. If we wanted anything normal such as omelet, that was charged extra as well.
- Receptionist promised to call the room for further info about drinks during the stay, he never really did.
- They charged extra for the complimentary tea and coffee in the room. They claimed the prices were listed. The prices were for the mini bar!.
- shower was easy enough to adjust but every now and then it kept going boiling hot for a second or two
- I was on the top floor, I could just about see the sea if I climbed on a chair.
- could sleep at night because of the bathroom fan in the next room. Fan would turn on about 4 or 5am, really annoying.
- The only friendly workers were the cleaning lady's.

This hotel is in a very good location and could be quite a smart hotel, albeit with small ish rooms. There were major disappointments;
Our booking said Full Breakfast - yet they still wanted to charge extra for Orange Juice which came from the machine next to the other bits which were free.
When we asked to reserve places on the airport shuttle we were told that we should have booked in advance, even though there was nothing to indicate advance bookings.
On most days, the only cheerful member of staff which we saw was the lady cleaning the rooms - all the others were less cheerful.
Final, major disappointment. Although the hotel provides what looks like complimentary tea and coffee in the rooms, it is not complimentary. When you check out, they hit you with a bill from the mini bar to cover the tea and coffee!!

Won't be staying there again.

Room Tip: Book an Elegance room at the front and buy your own tea, coffee and sugar at the shop up the street.

We had a mixed experience at this hotel, though it is in a great location to see the big sites in Sultanahmet. When we arrived, they was a problem in the bathroom, so we were booked at another hotel next door which was not as nice. The following day the air conditioning did not work the entire day and there was a loud concert at night, so we had to close the doors in order to sleep, but found the room uncomfortably hot without AC. When we left we were charged for items in the mini bar that we did not use. Perhaps the cleaning staff saw empty bottles of water that we had purchased outside the hotel and assumed they were from the mini bar. But this just added to an accumulation of negative experiences at the hotel.

We stayed here for three nights at the end of August. The room was very clean (although a bit small) and the location was outstanding! We could walk to many of the best tourist attractions and there were several great restaurants nearby. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful and breakfast provided was good.

Excellent, friendly staff.
I didn't give it five stars just because shower pressure was a bit weak and the bathroom looked old in contrast to the rest of the room, but it was spotlessly clean!
A very nice hotel, my friends and I enjoyed our stay.
