This is an absolute gem in Istanbul. About 2 mins walk from the Blue Mosque with all the sights very nearby. The staff are outstanding and incredibly nice. Nothing is too much trouble. They arranged transfers to airport and back, sightseeing trips etc with no trouble. One thing to bear in mind; if your room is facing the mosque; literally next door, you will get woken at 5am due to the calling of prayers.

All in all, an amazing hotel. Not 5-star but a nice family run hotel with a most pleasant feel to it. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

Room Tip: Great hotel.... would absolutely recommend to friends. Loved it.

We stayed in this Hotel at both the beginning and end of our holiday. It is very close to the centre of Istanbul about 5 mins walk from the blue mosque, a great location. On the 1st occasion we were given a very tiny double room in the basement with constant noise of people walking past on the street above. Be aware that budget rooms can really be budget here. Despite that the bed was really comfortable and the hotel was very clean. On our return we were given a much larger room which was again very comfortable. Sadly we got family news which meant that we had to cut our holiday short and get immediate return flights home. At this point the hotel staff were absolutely fabulous and did all of the negotiations with Turkish Airlines for us and we cannot thank them enough. They have even agreed to refund half of the cost of the unused nights that we had already paid for. Many thanks.

A warm welcome awaits you at the Arena Hotel in Istanbul. You walk into the attractively furnished lobby of an Ottoman family home, now converted into a hotel, and the staff could not be more polite, helpful and friendly. The location in the atmospheric old part of Istanbul - Sultanahmet - is extremely convenient - about 5 minutes' walk to the main hsitoric sights of the city and nearest tram stop, 10 minutes or so to the Topkapi Palace. The airport transfer service at 25 euros/trip worked perfectly.
The restaurant serves excellent food - breakfast is an extensive self-service buffet and dinner offers excellent food at prices which seem to compare favourably with other restaurants in town.
Our room was, perhaps, a little on the small side but clean and perfectly adequate and excellent value for money.
We would not wish to stay anywhere else in Istanbul.

Room Tip: Our room was at the rear of the hotel and WAS a little on the compact side and so was the shower cub...

We stayed in February as part of a Voyage Prive deal. Room rate was very competitive and included an upgrade to a junior suite.

The hotel is centrally located in Old Sultanahmet, 5 minute walk from the Blue Mosque and Ayasofya. Topkapi Palace no more than a 10 minute walk. Metro was also 10 minute walk away and great to use to get around the city and make your way back to the airport.

What impressed me about the hotel was the staff could not do enough for you to ensure you enjoyed your stay in their city. They were able to recommend restaurants and a traditional belly dancing show which was top notch and excellent value for an evening's entertainment.

Food and wine were highly enjoyable in the hotel, we had one evening meal there during our stay which was as good as any others we had. Extensive choice of cold items for breakfast.

Would recommend a visit to the Dolmabache Palace and the Istanbul Modern art exhibition across the Bosphorus, very easy to get to on the Metro.

Happy to answer any further questions that you may have on this wonderful city.

the hotel is beautiful! located in the best place, 5 minute walk from aya sofia and the blue mosque and 15 minute walk from topkapi, the tram station. also a very nice 20 minute walk to the port.

the staff was very nice and helpful. breakfast was nice. the shuttle to and from the airport cost 30EU and was very efficient and nice.

the room we got wasn't that great (204) very small with a very tiny bathroom . but since we spemt most of the day out of the hotel it wasnt that bad.

We attended a morning cookery course/experience at this hotel in early March 2013. We were made to feel very welcom by Naz one of the managers. She could have not done more for us. She even took photos that were forwarded to us at no extra cost. The kitchenwe was clean & the Chef a lovely man. We enjoyed our experience so much we stayed for a Turkish Bath 'experience' in the afternoon. We will return and stay next time as we enjoyed the experience fully.

We stayed at the Arena hotel for two nights and I have a mixed feeling from that stay. Good side was: staff hospitality, the breakfast (really good selection of cold and hot dishes), bathrobes, tea&coffee in the room. Bad side was: the noisy room (even it was an unusual experience to be awaken by the prayer from the neighbor mosque at 5AM, I didn't enjoy the noise from the street), the condition of the room (it definitely required renovation, especially the bathroom). The location... 0.5 km from the Blue Mosque, so hard to complain, but I personally didn't like the district around the hotel. I'd classify the hotel as a good 3* hotel, but not a 4*, and I wouldn't return to the Arena again.
