We stayed here when we first got to Istanbul for a friend's wedding. We booked the Deluxe Room and when we were checking in the receptionist first said "room 313" and then changed his mind and directed us to the second floor. The room was clean, more standard than deluxe. We were more focused on going out and making the most of our whirlwind trip. The location is great, right in the middle of Sultanahmet so you can walk everywhere. The view from the rooftop is Hagia Sophia, which at night is wonderful. We did not eat at the restaurant and found the wine to be overpriced. Overall it was an ok stay, we will not be staying here again.

After long trip we finally managed to find the hotel and to our great surprise the booked Deluxe Room turn out into a simple standard room with two separate beds and not a double bed. The receptionist requested the booking confirmation, which proves that the booking system is not working well in this hotel. The hotel was fully booked and we did not get our expedia.com booked room, which looked quite impressive on the photo.
During the day it was impossible to take a nap - the cleaners seem to be in the corridors all day long and they never stop talking.
Breakfast could be rated as cheap 2-star hotel one.
We were very much surprised to see the TripAdvisor award at the registration desk. This hotel should not be even considered for being available through expedia or tripadvisor. Very cheap.

Room Tip: Always check the room booked, the registration desk will try to cheat you and give you a lower class...

The Celal Sultan is a very well located hotel with all the main attractions on your doorstep. The view from the terrace restaurant (where the food is very good) is lovelly and makes a nice retreat away from the hustle and bustle that is Istanbul.
Our room was well equiped, reasonably sized and clean.
This is not a high rise modern hotel and borders more on the quaint and is all the better for that.
The staff were efficient and friendly with plenty of advice if needed.

After a long trip from Australia, finally we were happy of our trip. Everything in our hotel was excellent. My family and I and our friends were looking for a centralized Hotel in Istanbul and this was a perfect fit.
This family stylish hotel is suits the variety of people who wants to have romantic time, catch up with family or see ancients and culture of Turkey. This hotel itself is like a small museum. We took so many pictures inside the hotel.
The staff is definitely the hotel's strong point, they are extremely helpful and friendly.
The breakfast was excellent, with always clean tablecloths, the service smooth, always helpful and smiling.
The room itself was amazing, comfortable bed, and nice bathroom. We also enjoyed spending time on the rooftop terrace, at night with the view of Aiasophia was so romantic, specially with hotel's amazing music. what a great way to see the sunset over Sultanahmet. The location is a short walk to the mosques, museums and the grand bazaar. We walked everywhere without issue...
This was the best hotel of our Europe trip even better than Rome.
We definitely come back again; maybe next year..... :)
Thank you Celalsultan/Jelalsultan

Room Tip: We had 3 kinds of rooms, All were excellent.

I spent 3 nights in the Celal Sultan, and I found nice rooms, very helpful and supporting staff. Its cenral location and the outstanding terrace with a view to the Hagia Sophia are the featuring highlights of this small hotel.

The reviews of this hotel were astounding, so I had high expectations but I am not that critical. At first, we were driven to the hotel by the hotel service. It costs 160 Lira (from Sabiha Airport) or 70 euros. It was excellent and fast (because they drive reckless and fast in Turkey). The staff at the hotel was nice and helpful, a great first impression. We had room 206, a small room with two beds. The room is nice, but the bathroom was too small and not clean. There was mold everywhere and the toilet was too close to the sink. An overweight person wouldn't fit, it was that small. Also, our mini-bar didn't work and was almost room temperature.
The beds were also pretty hard, I like that but some may not.
The breakfast was fine, but there's not a lot of choice and the coco pops were old.

All in all a fine hotel, but the reviews are way too good. This hotel is just normal, please look further because I cannot recommend this place to you.
