“A great place to stay in Istanbul for a longer weekend”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

The hotel is in a perfect place for sightseeing, very quiet, very familiar. The breakfast on the roof garden is tasty with a very nice view on the sea and the asian part of Istanbul. The staff is very friendly and managed to help us in every situation (reservations, transports, private guide etc.). The penthouse suite is very spacious with a great view, nice carpets and a new bathroom. We enjoyed the walking distance to the Hagia Sophia, the "Blue Mosque" and the hippodrome as well as nice fish restaurants, small bazars etc. We will certainly come back to this traditional turkish house.

Room Tip: Perfect for a couple for a longer weekend

We spent three nights in this lovingly designed hotel and everything was perfect.
The airport pickup was complimentary and on time, the room and bathroom size was comfortable, breakfast is served on the roof terrace which is a great place to look over the bay, the staff is very friendly and qualified, the walking distance to a lot of points of interests is very convenient, several restaurants are nearby.

our first stay in istanbul was at the dersaadet hotel for four nights in late april/early may. we loved it! the service was excellent. the facility was super--it has the feel of a "family lodge" and not a "big city hotel." breakfasts on the hotels rooftop, overlooking water in two directions, were unforgettable (as were occasional early evening wine occasions). terrific sunsets!

the location was very good: a short walk to the major tourist destinations, just behind the blue mosque. and, as we discovered later in our trip, the neighborhoods below the hotel, walking downhill to the river, were less touristy but definitely worth exploring.

there is a relatively small bazaar just up the block for shopping, and preparation for the grand bazaar. and several local restaurants around the corner made taking a taxi for dinner to be unnecessary.

this hotel is really an "inn" or b&b or lodge, rather than a big city hotel, but it had everything we needed. we thoroughly recommend it.

Room Tip: we had a "corner suite", which we'd recommend if you can get it. of course, as in man...

We arrived at the Dersaadet for our first trip to Istanbul a little tired and certainly overwhelmed by the size and complexities of the city. We dropped off our luggage and were warmly greeted by the front desk staffer who assured us our luggage would be taken care of while we toured the sites of Istanbul.
Our first impression was one of a quiet oasis in the midst of chaos. On a quiet neighborhood location just moments away from the Blue Mosque, this architectural gem stood out as something special. The interior lobby had inviting areas for tea and snacks, the computers with free wifi were just a few steps away and soft low key music lent a sense of serenity to our arrival.
We stayed in the room that offered the full Turkish bath. I will say that I was suitably impressed with the size and authenticity of our bathing area. The room was street level but was very quiet with the exception of a canine serinade one morning at two A.M. We could have used a little more storage space but an additional wardrobe would have made the room a bit cramped.
The terrace was a delight for both breakfast and drinks after a long day of sightseeing and shopping. It was there where we began to experience the key to the quality of the hotel. Without question, the best thing about the Dersaadet is the quality of their staff. We were constantly surprised by attention to detail and support provided by everyone from room service to the front desk. The assistant manager during breakfast engaged every resident to ensure they were being taken care of and offering help to make that day special.
For example, we had to leave one morning at 5 AM. That morning, the staff provided us coffee, sandwiches and fresh fruit to begin the day.
We loved Istanbul and plan to return soon. And, when we do, we will be returning to the Dersaadet.

Room Tip: Select your room well in advance as this is a very popular hotel.

Location was just right... just blocks away from everything, but not on a busy street so we did not get street noise. We stayed at the start and end of our trip to Turkey, and both rooms were big, comfy and nice, the food was great.... but the staff really makes this place special. They really took good care of us! What a great trip and it all started at the Dersaadet Hotel.

The hotel in Istanbul has been a cornerstone of a memorable weekend. The staff always willing to meet our needs, the delicate decoration, the original rooms, and the splendid terrace are part of the puzzle that makes recommendable Dersaadet for anyone wishing to visit Istanbul. Certainly we will not forget the people who make it possible. Thanks Bursa, Umit, thanks to all the staff of Dersaadet.

Room Tip: "Sultan room" has a splendid turkish bathroom
