This may be a hidden gem. We stayed for a week in December 2012 and had an all around terrific experience. The hotel is close to the Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, and nearby sites, has considerable charm, offers exceptional service to and care for its clientele, and has a literally wonderful staff. They took care of us both in and out of the hotel, in the latter case with careful and professional advice about how to get about the city, the best sights, and where to dine.

We just returned from a wonderful 4 days in Istanbul, December 2012 where we stayed at the Dersaadet Hotel. This is a very charming, comfortable hotel in a historic wooden building, conveniently located in the Sultanahmet area. The location is a great choice for first time visitors to Istanbul, since all the main sites are located nearby, as is the tramway. We found the staff (especially Busra) to be very friendly and helpful in responding to any request. Lovely rooftop terrace with a view onto the blue mosque on one side and the Bosphorus on the other. Though charming, the hotel has all the modern conveniences. My teenaged son appreciated the high speed internet service, which worked well. The bathroom was modern and stylish, the beds comfortable and the place was well heated even during the coldest days of December. The room itself was smallish, but this is to be expected in an old building and we spent very little time there anyway with so much to see and do. I would strongly recommend others consider the Dersaadet Hotel for their trip to Istanbul and if you have any doubts about Istanbul, don't hesitate...we found it to be a wonderful place for a holiday, so vibrant, beautiful and so many things to see and do. It really seems like the cross roads of the world.

We stayed here a week in September 2012 and the Dersaadet and its staff made it one of our best vacations ever. The hotel is perfectly located near all the key sites, but more important, the staff made sure every day that we had everything we needed to maximize the day. Busra, the concierge visited us every morning on the terrace as we ate breakfast and asked us our plans and advised us on additional places to see and the best ways to travel. The front desk was also very helpful on advising us on restaurants and transportation. The rooms were excellent and the terrace overlooking the Sea of Marmara and the Blue Mosque were a great way to start and end the day.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel from 6-11 Sept 2012. The staff are polite, friendly and helpful, the view from the breakfast terrace is fabulous (minarets of the Blue Mosque and the Bosphorus), and the location is excellent. A short walk takes you to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the tram stop, the Grand Bazaar... it felt like everywhere was close by. We loved Istanbul! We wanted to go back as soon as we left, especially as the next place we arrived (Athens) saw all our most valued possessions (including all our precious photos from Istanbul) stolen.
We were welcomed with tea and locum, which was pleasant, and the welcome felt warm and genuine.
Our room was small and a little dated, but clean and comfortable. The wifi worked well. The breakfast was OK, coffee a bit ho-hum. We would stay here again and would recommend it to friends.
And... if you are looking for a scarf of ANY description, at a fair price, see the charming Ugur ARTAR at Dream Art Collection in the Grand Bazaar. He makes parting with your money a pleasure, plus you get a scarf!

My first time in Istanbul and the Dersaadet hotel was an excellent choice! I had no idea what to expect and was tagging along with friends from DC. Sometimes smaller is better and this time it was. Everything worked like clockwork. The hotel arraigned the transfer from the airport and it was painless. The hotel is a short ride/trip from the airport, about 20 mins depending on traffic. When we arrived at the Dersaadet, we were warmly greeted by staff and served hot tea with a Turkish delight. The room and bath were clean; I was impressed with the tiled bath in my room. The bed were comfortable. The morning breakfast was the traditional European breakfast veggies, eggs, coffee, juice, grains, yogurt, mixed fruit, sausages to name a few of the items. The roof dining area is enclosed with glass roof with an exterior balcony on nice sunny days. I can't say enough about the staff. They were very attentive and pleasant to be around. The Dersaadet is close to the T1 tram line, the Grand Bazaar, the Palace, Blue Mosque and several other places all being about a 10 min walk up the narrow streets where you get to mix with the locals. I never had a worry about safety, even when coming in at 2 AM, At one point we got lost on the narrow streets but still felt safe. Even the Morning Prayer at 6:30ish was not too bad, and after being in the city you get used to hearing it. My only complaint, if I had one was the WiFi didn't work too well on the roof, but it did perform well in the room. I definitely would, and have recommended the Dersaadet to the locals who may have friends or family visiting. I’ve already recommended it to friends who have trips planned to Istanbul in the spring.

Superb hotel for a city trip to Istanbul. Location, service, rooms... everything is 100% perfect. Best value for money! The stuff is very friendly and helpful. The most exciting rooms are the ones with view to the Marmamr Sea. The only thing you have to like, is the cry of the muezzin at 6:00 a.m. ;-)

Room Tip: Seaside view!

My partner and I went to Istanbul for a 4 night mini-break. We stayed at the Dersaadet Hotel; it's a lovely small hotel with a terrific location and splendid staff. Highly recommended. Many thanks to Busra and the rest of the team. Jim & Susie.
