Hotel Fehmi Bey
Ranked #391 of 1,163 Hotels in Istanbul
Reviewed October 13, 2009

Six of us stayed five days and nights at fehmi Bey and loved every minute of it. The Hotel is very conveniently located just one block from the Hippodrome and within walking distance of most of old Istanbul and the tram.

There is a lovely rooftop breakfast area with fabulous views. We also had sunset drinks up here regularly as the views over the water and harbour and out to the Blue Mosque were fabulous. There is also a casual seating area for reading, relaxin or just view watching.

The rooms are very airy and spacious. We had the three corner rooms so there were windows on two sides of each room. Very pleasantly decorated, firm but comfortable bed and a relaxed seating area. A large and airy bathroom off each room also with windows. All very pleasant with plenty of room to move.

The staff were terrific. There was always someone on hand to help or offer advice and they were always courteous and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The customer service was excellent.

I would stay here again should I revisit Turkey and would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul. Ros - Sydney, Australia.

My husband and I stayed at the Fehmi Bey for 6 nights in August. The hotel is in a pretty building on the corner of a charming Sultanahmet street. It is well decorated and run by a friendly, discrete staff. We were met at the airport as promised and whisked to the hotel in what seemed like moments. We received a warm welcome and were shown straight up to our room. Our room was LARGE (corner room), tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, with a modern bathroom with bath tub shower. Mini fridge stocked at reasonable prices, TV, safe and big comfortable bed. The roof top terrace where a fresh and varied buffet breakfast is served has a fantastic view of the Sea of Marmara and the Islands as well as the Blue Mosque. The terrace can be used at all hours of the day and night by guests and is a wonderful place to relax. Meals brought in from a near by restaurant are very reasonably priced. Drinks were also well priced with tea and coffee served ALL day at no charge. The Fehmi Bey could not be better located within Sultanahmet. It is literally steps from the Hippodrome and the Blue Mosque and within easy reach of the Sultanahmet tram stop. We fell in love with Istanbul and if we are lucky enough to return one day, we would definitely stay at the Fehmi Bey again.

We chose this hotel due to the excellent reviews on this board. It is well located, a block from the Hippodrome. The hotel provided airport pick up since we stayed for 3 days. We booked what they called their executive room which is on the 4th floor, has a terrace overlooking the Blue Mosque and water. This room is higher priced than a standard room. They provide a good buffet breakfast on the roof top with a nice view. The hotel was very clean and the employees were very nice. The only negative was the bed which might have had the hardest mattress I have ever slept on. It definitely was uncomfotable and unfortunately affects my overall view of this hotel. I don't know if all rooms have beds like this so I can only comment on my experience. This is something to check out before booking.

My wife and I just returned from 3 days in Istanbul. Hotel Fehmi Bey lives up to its reputation. Fabulous location, great room (#302), reasonable (book early) price, roof top dinning, and caring staff. The biggest surprise was free internet that no one was every using except us! The Desk persons were very helpful with our questions on what to see, how to get there, and restaurant suggestions. Stop searching and book this hotel! Istanbul was Awesome.

Can't say enough good about this hotel. Great value for the cost. The location is just a few hundred meters walk from the Sultanahmet tram stop and the Blue Mosque; so easy access from and to anywhere in Istanbul, including the airport by public transit for under $3. The view from the terrace where breakfast is served and one can relax at any time is spectacular: Sea of Marmara on one side, Blue Mosque on the other. Breakfast is very good. We split our stay -- 4 then 3 nights -- with travel to other parts of Turkey between. Both times we arrived early morning -- once at 8:00am -- and were able to get right into our room. We were invited to enjoy breakfast for free even though we had not stayed the preceding night. The area is very quiet at night. Lots of good restaurants within easy walking distance.

I was impressed by the very positive reviews found in TripAdvisor. I chose the hotel due to that and now I definitely must agree with the numerous good reviews: the Fehmi Bey is an excelent hotel in Istanbul. Good location, charming decoration, clean, discrete and helpful staff. The room was not so big but OK, with nice carpets (the owner trades carpets) and a small but very complete bathroom. Gorgeous terrace on the last floor with a wonderful seaview, confortable furniture and a magnificent breakfast buffet. Pity I couldn't stay there longtime. Worth the price. I would certainly be a guest again.
