I stayed 8 nights in Azade hotel, I was amazed by the great service, prompt response of the front office staff, Sinan and Ahmad, really fantastic service, clean rooms and wonderful location. They made us feel home. Thanks a lot Azade staff.

Room Tip: Avoid first floor rooms.

My wife and I stayed at the Azade for the start of our Rick Steves Turkey tour. We arrived two days early, so we were at the Azade for four nights. While a bit pricey, the location in the middle of Sultanahmet can't be beat. Restaurants and shops galore, minutes to the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Topkapi Palace. Only about 15 minutes walk to the Galata Bridge, the Spice Market, or the Grand Bazaar.

The view from the rooftop terrace where you have breakfast is stunning. And despite some other negative comments posted about the breakfast, we thought the variety was quite good. They even had honey in the comb hung in a glass fronted serving rack. Fruits and vegetables were so flavorful, something that is rare in the U.S. Bowls of various varieties of olives, cheeses, meats, you name it.

By prearrangement, the hotel arranged a complimentary (shared) van service that met us just outside of the Customs desk at the Istanbul Ataturk airport. After crossing 10 time zones getting to Istanbul, I was glad to leave the driving to our driver. Driving into the Sultanahmet district is certainly not for the faint of heart.

The hotel staff was very cordial and helpful.

My friend and I stayed here for the first couple of nights of our Rick Steves' Tour and enjoyed it very much. Our only complaints were the strong sewer smell in our room that was tolerable but unpleasant and the pre-tour room they provided-slept 4 but we only needed to sleep 2 and it was PRICEY. Otherwise, this hotel has a GREAT location, great, fun staff-willing to engage in Turkish conversation (mine being very limited), and the BREAKFASTS on the roof make it all worth it! This hotel had the freshest, best breakfast of our entire Rick Steves' tour (13 days) with a wonderful view of the Asian side of Istanbul...most memorable being the huge block of dripping honeycomb and the fresh greens/herbs. On our second night I didn't sleep a wink (too excited and too much caffeine)- i got out of bed at 4:30am and went down to the lobby where they provided me with black tea-I headed up to the top floor where breakfast would be served in 3 hours and relished the quiet time before the first call of prayer at 5am--as I listened to the myriad calls of prayer throughout the city i enjoyed the smells of early morning baking bread and views of the glowing Hagia Sophia-what a magical place!

Stayed there for a quick city break in istanbul. Location is perfect so close (5min walk) to Istanbul historical attractions (Sultan Ahmet, Aya Sofia, Top Kapi, Basilica cistern, Grand Bazar). Room price was ok compared to hotels in same area. room was clean but furniture was outdated. Windows are not completely preventing the street noise. Staff were helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was a clear disadvantage but wasn't a big deal for me since many restaurants and cafes were close. Terrace has views of Sultan Ahmet & Marmara.
Generally i recommend it for short stay and if you prefer to spend most of your time outdoors.

Stayed 3 nights in the Azade Hotel recently. Beware of their Website ! Great photos, reality does not match these photos at all.
We got a room facing the Bosporus so no complaints here. Room was small, bathroom even smaller.
Breakfast was quite monotonous like we read in previous comments. Very annoying the number of big birds flying in at breakfast time picking into the bread, the fruits and whatever and none of the staff bothers to chase them away. One woman next to us nearly vomitted and refused to have breakfast.
Otherwise, the hotel is in an excellent location exploring the major sightseeings of Istanbul on foot, big number of restaurants nearby as well.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 3rd floor facing the Bosporus, no call from any mosque in the morning, you sleep like a Baby. Do NOT get a room on the so-called 1st floor if you do not want pedestrians on the street peeping into your room.
