“Good option for a short holiday!!”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

We recently spent a long weekend in Turkey and were very happy with our stay in Best Western. As our trip was planned in the last minute, we could not find many decent deals - we booked this one as we got a good deal for an international chain in a nice locality

The only negative I would say is that you could spend some time searching for the hotel for the first time you are visiting the place. While it is 5 mins away from the Blue Mosque, the approach could be confusing, especially if you are relying on google maps. We did take about 30 mins. to find the hotel, but after we did it was a really good experience.

The rooms although not very spacious, were comfortable and very well maintained. Most employees could speak English, which is a big advantage in Istanbul. The breakfast was pretty decent. The views from the terrace are spectacular. I would also recommend the Turkish Hamam in the hotel -the rates are very reasonable and I was very impressed with the service.

Once you have checked-in at the hotel, the bell boy/receptionist will give directions to the blue mosque which is only 5 mins. away. The best part about visiting Istanbul is that most of the places can be reached on T1 Tram and hence is relatively stress-free. There is no hassle of changing metros or walking for a long distance to reach the nearest metro, which you may experience in other European cities.
We got back to the hotel very late on most of the nights and we felt very safe during the 5-7 min walk from the tram stop to the hotel,

The hotel is bang on in the Sultanhamet area. The blue mosque is about 5 mts walk from here. There is the main tram line T1 at about 7 mts walk which stops at all major places like grand bazaar, laleli, tokapi palace, spice market, galata tower. The neighbourhood is totally safe but maybe hard to find initially. The hotel also has a Turkish hamam and spa inside. The ayasofya hamam is always crowded and more expensive but this one is totally convenient . Great staff helpful and friendly. I will recommend this for anyone.

The hall of the hotel is very typicall of the arabic civilisation.

The room are not very large but the service is very good as soon as your are calling the front desk.

The lady at the front desk is doing a great job, she will do anything possible to help you, always with a very natural and nice smile.

The manager is more than fair and honest. My partner had a reservation for 13 days but he was stock in an other country for business, Even if he never came to the hotel and even if the grossist did not do its job properly, they never advised the hotel, the manager charge only TWO days for no show.

I am travelling around the world and my experience is that you will not find any so fair manager to often.

Over and above, the most important historical sites of Istanbul are quite closed, and your are living in the old town with the local population. A very interesting totaly different world.

Actually a 3 star hotel located in a quite area but far from the old town.
Room was small but clean. Service very slow, staff very rude. Breakfast was decent and view from terrace is good.
But definitely NOT recommended....

We stayed there with my wife in August, a 4 night city trip, and had an excellent time. The hotel is small and tucked away in the maze of the old town streets. It therefore is not easy to find, but a handheld GPS, a good map or a local driver can all easily overcome this problem. A truly great location, as it is within walking distance to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Public transport is also close by, you can use it to get to all the important areas, be it the Taksim district or Atatürk airport. As mentioned in other reviews, the walks are not necessarily leisurely strolls they can be strenous at times.
The hotel and the rooms are small, but clean, quiet and stylish (Old style Turkish, that is). We could have handled a more powerful A/C but it was OK. The room had complimentary tea and coffee, with a kettle and the internet worked fine the whole time. Breakfast was good, not the widest selection I've ever seen but certainly enough.
The pool/SPA area is really small, I wouldn't pick this hotel for a SPA experience.
We were out exploring the city most of the times and this place was a good value for our money and purpose.

If you want to experience Old City and dive into the world of real non-touristy Istanbul, this is the place to stay. Every day 10-15 mins relaxed walks to Haghia Sophia, Blue Mosque and other sites would make me closer to a locally-flavored Istanbul. I once bumped into a traditional wedding with exciting sounds of Zurna (pipe) and Turkish drums! I loved my stay at BW Antea, thanks to Rafael and Ulu, managers (for useful tips and suggestions on city tours!) and kind personnel (for exceptional service) who made it truly enjoyable!

My Middle Easter/Central Asian tour would not be possible without visiting Istanbul and staying at BW Antea Palace and discovering the city in a position of half a tourist and half a 'local' person!

For this I say: どうもありがとうございました! Thank you very much !

We are a family of four who just got back after spending 6 nights in Istanbul. Found the hotel charming and clean. Not too far from the old town however, be prepared for a 10 - 15 minute walk uphill. Can be tiring but then again will help you burn those extra calories from all those kebabs:))

On a negative note, the pool was smaller then we expected roughly 12 feet by 8.

Room Tip: Family suite on 3rd floor..very nice
