“A week in Istanbul”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

As a mature couple we were really pleased to have chosen a hotel in the heart of the historic area and found the hotel very comfortable and the staff extremely helpful and welcoming, always ready to offer a cup of tea or coffee on our return from trips. Mustafa in particular was very happy to advise and even arrange our trips. The evening meals were very competitively priced and the pepper steak in particular delicious. For my wife's birthday evening meal the hotel was happy to arrange flowers and even provided a free Birthday cake! For a change of venue the meals and friendly staff at the Palata restaurant opposite were well worth a visit - they even arranged for us to go to another cafe to see an important football match! Really pleased to have chosen this hotel.

Room Tip: Did not use spa but it looks brand new.

We are a mature couple who wished to visit the historical sites in the old part of Istanbul City. This hotel is in the most beneficial position for this purpose as you can walk to all of the tourist attractions very easily. It is situated on a road which has many bars and restaurants which means that you may walk out in the evening and still be close to hotel after a full evening's entertainment and food. The hotel is very smart inside and the rooms are excellent and cleaned daily. We met Mustafa on our arrival and he was extremely helpful throughout our stay advising us on the best way to visit the attractions and organising a personal guide for a walking tour of the old city. We ate in the Restaurant on two evenings and the food and service was very good. We could not fault this hotel or its staff and would fully recommend it to anyone visiting old Istanbul

Room Tip: we stayed in a room which had a view of the river albeit across many rooftops

This hotel is situated near all the great sights in Sultanahmet. It is small, clean and nicely decorated. Mustafa at the reception desk was warm, charming and always willing to please and help. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is close to all major attractions, which can be reached by walking in a few minutes, eg Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazaar
We were 2 couples, 45 - 50 yrs
We want thank the hotel team, especially the reception and the restaurant chef. We travel a lot, not often we were welcomed with so much warmth, the service is just amazing friendly and we can highly recommend this house. The rooms ( upstairs, last floor with fantastic view) are very comfortabel, with TV, Minibar, Tea and coffe, and also clean. the heating was working proper, (is was cold that time in Istanbul). We got a lot of tips, help for all our wishes and the restaurant is also recommended (and cheaper than the restaurants close to the hotel).
Also, the hammam and sauna are fine, also a massage is recommended. we givew 5 star + for the hospitality!

Room Tip: Rooms last floor are quite and have a fantastic view.

After much internet research. We settled on Acropol Hotel for our 3 night stopover in Istanbul and were not disappointed. The location was ideal for old city exploring on foot. The staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The room was well appointed (we opted for the junior suite) was clean and the bathroom was modern with separate bath / shower. The hotels in the old city are not purpose built like they are in most cities which does make them quaint and authentic.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view.

My business partner and I traveled to Istanbul on business and stayed at this property in January 2013 and had a wonderful stay.

Property is relatively small and well maintained. It's located on a great street full of restaurants and cafes in the Sultan Ahmet section of the city (old City) and within minutes of Blue Musk, Aya Sophia, grand bazaar, etc. Great breakfast buffet & Free WiFi throughout the hotel.

Our rooms were good size and well furnished. Bathrooms were of good size, full of marble, and the tub had a jet. Water pressure for shower was great.

Staff is wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. Every single member of the staff wanted us to have a great experience and treated us as if we were guests at their home.

All in all, a great experience. I would certainly go back.

After reading alot of reviews on this website I thought I would stay at Best Western Acropol Istanbul.

Hotel advertised as a 5 star hotel, however it felt like a tired 3 star hotel. Food below standard and food I ordered was under cooked.

Staff OK but not as expected following previous amazing reviews!

Jacuzzi in room didn't work and power cuts every night..

I wont't be going back! - SHAME

Dear Guest ,First of all we thank you for your review . We would like to clear some points about your claims to not misunderstanding from other readers. We are very sad to hear that you are not happy and satisfied the services, Please accept our apologies on behalf of me and my team here.
I would like to inform you that we do not publish our hotel as a five star anywhere, our hotel rating is special class from Tourism Ministry .Unfortunatelly there is no level equal to european standarts. But I can say that all the standarts we provide are highest level at the hotel. The ratings at the web sites given by the agency criters. We have awarded by Best Western International with Quality Assurance this year again.

We have international and Turkish Cusine at the hotel with large selection menu .
I have checked that there was missunderstanding to not to inform the staff well cooked or well done about your order. I have informed by the staff it is changed as you liked immediatelly.

We have checked the Jacuzi in the room and it is working properly, we havent recieved any information from you about it. We had no power cut at all during your stay. Even so we have a power generator, it comes in a minute again. Only problem happened once, about the energy, just because of the other guest used a broken convertor in the other room and it had turned off the switches at the floor. When we have found the problem we have informed the other guest to not use it and give one of our convertor to fix the problem immediately . Total time 5 minutes.

I would say your comments is not fair about the staff as they really take good care of your stay here, although you did not leave your complimentary upgraded room, from check in to check out four days. I believe that most of the other travelers already pointed their feelings about the staff at tripadvisor.

We are vey dissapointed about your review as we awarded by the Travelers Choice 2013
By Tripadvisor readers at the same day.

We will be happy to serve you, if you ever come to Istanbul again and please do not hesitate to contact with me directly,if you need further assistance.

Kind regards, Ozhan OZLU, Hotel Manager
