As a single traveller I pay extra and was annoyed to be given a very small room with just a double bed, tiny fitted wardrobe and bench desk under the eaves. Nowhere to sit except on the bed and difficult to move round room.No chair on the very small balcony either and the room was stiflingly hot as air-con had been switched off as "it is winter" - it was 22 degrees and humid!

Dear Yelsel10,

We would like to thank you for taking the time to share with us your comments and reviews; feedback is essential to improve based on our guest needs.

It is unfortunate to hear that the room was not up to your expectations; our rooms are all spacious and comfortable with 29 m2, which is above the actual standard size. However, as a single traveller you might have been allocated a single room which is slightly smaller than the rest. If we would have known that you were not comfortable, we would have done our best to change you to a larger room. Regarding the fact that there is no chair in the small balcony we will consider this suggestion in order for future guests to enjoy the view and fresh air from the cosy balcony.

As for the air conditioning, it is correct that during the winter time we have automatic heating system that enables us to offer a more comfortable and stable temperature for our guests.

We sincerely wish your experience with us would have been better, as most of our guest’s experiences are, and we hope to welcome you back at our hotel in order to better fulfil your expectations.

Kindest Regards,

I really enjoyed my stay in your hotel. What pleased me most is the way the staff deal with customers. The only problem lies in comunication. It woul not be a bad idea to some members who speak arbic ou french.

The hotel is located in a very good place, in front of a tramway stop and it is very easy to reach from the Ataturk airport. The historical center is 20 - 25 minutes far from the hotel, using the tram.
Rooms are confortable and clean. Hotel staff is very helpful and nice.
Excellent breakfast.

Stayed at the Barcelo Topkapi Eresin in Istanbul for three nights as part of a tour. Hotel was in a good location for public transport- tram located right outside the hotel running directly to Grand Bazaar and further to Blue Mosque etc. Just avoid peak hours- trams become very crowded! Rooms could have been a little larger- we were in a triple room. Bathroom quite small and shower not overly hot. Breakfast buffet quite good with all the usual Turkish foods plus pastries, fruit etc. Free internet which was good. Staff friendly and efficient except for the bar staff who could not speak English which we all found strange considering the hotel is catering for large tour groups! Two nice gift shops downstairs in the lobby which were reasonably priced for last minute souvenirs. There are local restaurants , supermarket and shops nearby within walking distance.

Dear “debisouthafrica”,

Thank you very much for your review as it is essential to know which aspects our guests value the most.

It makes us very happy to learn that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you find our location convenient thanks to the tramway stop in front of the hotel. We are as well very glad to hear that you enjoyed our breakfast selection and quality, it is our pleasure to cater for all tastes and to offer a wide variety of quality products.

In addition, our free wifi connection together with our relaxing U Spa, which I hope you will visit on your next stay, are two of the most appreciated services according to our guests comments.

Most of our rooms have been renovated and are quite spacious and confortable with 29 m2, slightly larger than average standard sizes. We are sorry to hear that the bathroom size was no up to your expectations, without hesitation, we would have been glad to move you to a larger room if you were not feeling at ease. As for the hot water in the shower, we have checked with our maintenance engineer and both the temperature and power are in good working condition.

Thank you once again for sharing your experience with us and with other travellers, we look forward to welcome you back in our hotel soon!

There is one point of the improvement.
I asked you to arrange a taxi from the airport when I reserved from web site.
Since there was no response from your side, I confirmed the taxi reservation by E-mail but the communication was not smooth. I think it should be more systematic way to do this.
Other points were very fine and I would like to stay once more if chance.

Dear Satoma,

Thank you indeed for your nice comments regarding the hamam and the room, we are extremely glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and would like to come back in the future, it really is a wonderful reward for all our hotel team.

Regarding the transfer from the airport, we do have our own service transfer available for our guests. We are surprised that the reservation and communication, as you mentioned, was not handled efficiently as our concierge team has a wide experience with transfer organisation and we have standardised procedures. However, we will revise our procedures in order to prevent this from happening in the future.

Thank you again for your comments and we truly look forward to welcome you back soon at Barceló Eresin Topkapi.

We chose this hotel because we wanted to have a spa to relax in after sightseeing days, and it was a great choice. It is slightly further out of Istanbul but is only 10-15 minutes on the tram into the historic centre of Istanbul, and the tram stop is literally outside the hotel so very convenient.

We only ate breakfast at the hotel which wasn't amazing quality (huge quantities and variety but nothing superb) but it was okay. There is a nice bar there for a drink/snacks.

The spa was great, I had a lovely massage, and we used the pool and steam room most days.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Dear “ rncsta”,

Thank you very much for sharing your positive impressions with us and future travellers who might find it useful when selecting their hotel in Istanbul.

We are glad you enjoyed our Spa facilities which include swimming pool, turkisk baths, sauna and a wide range of treatments and massages. We can proudly say that we have one of the best and biggest spa & wellness centres in the old peninsula and are extremely glad to know that our guests value it, especially after busy sightseeing days in the city.

As you mentioned in your comments, we do have a tramway stop going to the historic centre just across the street from the hotel, which is a very fast and convenient way to move around istanbul.

Regarding breakfast, we are sorry to hear that you were slightly dissapointed by the quality offered, we always try to combine variety, we have more than 4 juice varieties, with highest quality, for example most of our pastry is home made and we offer omelettes on demand at no additional cost. However, following your comments, we will gladly review our breakfast selection in order to improve it.

Should you have any further suggestions, comments or ideas, please feel free to contact us directly, any help towards improvement is always much appreciated.

We look forward welcoming you in the near future!
