The hotel is ok, nothing special, the main inconvenient is the distance from the city center and the main attractions, it is true there is a tram stop near the hotel but it takes almost 30 minutes to reach the downtown. Staff is NOT helpful or kind at all, I am sure there are other better choices in Istanbul.

I stayed at this hotel at both the beginning and end of a tour. Pluses: The rooms are very nice and quite large. The breakfast buffet (included in our rate) was good with many choices although you may wish to skip the scrabbled eggs. There is a pool. You need to purchase a bath cap so you may want to bring your own. The tram is across from the hotel. If you turn left at the light and walk up the hill a block, there is a small supermarket. There is free internet on the mezzanine. Note that it is an international keyboard and the @ key is reached by pressing the Alt Gr button at the same time as the @ key.

Tram info: Exit the hotel to your left and walk past Kia motors towards the gas station. Cross to the tram at the light. There are two machines to purchase tokens. They take coins and bills up to 20 lira. You may purchase more than one token at a time by using the button on the top left. The hotel stop is Parzartekke. Tthe tram is a quick ride(15-20 mins) into the Old City, 9 stops to the Sultanahmet and 10 to Gulhane (Topkapi Palace), It was extremely crowded each time we took it. So, be prepared to stand. Going into the Old City, the tram will read Eminönü or Kabatas. Returning to the hotel the tram will read. Bağcılar or CBG.A.Ö.Y.

Minuses - the hotel is not in an interesting location and the dinner buffet is fairly dreadful.

Next time, I will stay in the Old City. It may be noisier, in the tourist area, and the rooms not as westernized, but it's just more fun.

I have stayed four nights at the Hotel for attendance a Congress. Hotel had also foreigners besides the Congress' participants.
The hotel is very safe, big, clean and comfortable. It is located ınside the Topkapi Castles at the Old Istanbul. The hotel workers are very polite.
Transportation to Sultanahmet and Beyoglu- Pera and even Bosphorus is easy.
I also used the coiffeur of the Hotel which make me very pleasant.
One of the most important things is that foods are very fresh and delicious!
I would like to stay again. I can advise 'Barcelo Eresin Topkapı Hotel' to my friends and everybody visiting Istanbul. I also advise it as a 'Congress Hotel'.

Room Tip: I have stayed in a big room looking to the northeast old Istanbul with a view o several minarets and...

My wife and I traveled with another couple and stayed 4 nights. Trams stop outside hotel and take you to all the interesting areas of Istanbul. Ideal for travelers visiting Istanbul. Highly recommended

We found the Barcelo Eresin Topkapi an excellent choice for a short vacation in Istanbul. It was comfortable and quiet, just what we were looking for after a month of hard touring. We found the staff to be efficient, polite and friendly. It is not in the center of the tourist area but it is right across the street from the tram which runs every few minutes taking you to Sultanahmet and Karakoy. It is also a short taxi ride to Fatih, Fener and Balat. We discovered that there is a Carrefour Express supermarket right around the corner. We have stayed here several times and find it a good base for our Istanbul adventures.

A bit far from Sultanahmet but you have a tram (15 mn). So you can enjoy a good night sleep far from noise. This hotel was actually good, the only thing that botherd me was about $$$...too expensive for what it is. Breakfest was ok. Room spacious and clean.
If you would like to have a true and authentic food experience DON'T GO to Sultanahmet and try and eat as local, there is indeed a plenty of restarents which are much cheaper and better. All tourists are unfortunalty concentrated in the same area and forget how big Istanbul can be.
In the bazars do not hesitate to bargain, if you buy at the price given to you, you are simply a fool :-)
Actually, if you have time, look for street markets (where the locals go), prices there are so low. Otherwise, don't worry, have fan and if you pay a fortune, tell yourself you make someone happy.
