Ciragan Palace Kempinski Istanbul

As a part of our Regents cruise to the Greek Isles, in April we were afforded a complimentary one night stay at the Ciragan Palace hotel overlooking the Bosphorus River. Another couple and us were given suite like rooms overlooking the pool and river. The rooms were large with a sitting area and nice size bathroom. But our room's view itself were to die for especially in the evening. The greeting service was a one on one process which was a nice touch but, was time consuming considering we just arrived from a long flight. But the all around service from the time we arrived to the time we left was extraordinary. The surroundings of the hotel were so majestic that we decided to just enjoy the hotel instead of venturing out in Istanbul because the four of us have been to Istanbul before. There were some extremely expensive restaurants within the hotel, but, instead we chose "their version" of casual dining because restaurant was an outdoor indoor restaurant with a great view of the river and we were too tired to eat a full dinner. Instead, we ordered salad and pizza. a small appetizer and enjoyed some wine. Our bill came close to $200.00 US dollars.

We were entitled to a free continental breakfast that came with the room but, were generously told by the service personnel that because of the overcrowded occupancy, the full breakfast buffet that was usually served in another room was going to also be served in the restaurant portion delegated just to continental breakfast. So we were welcome to the full buffet breakfast they served which generally cost about $50.00/person U.S. dollars, tax and tip. This was a nice touch and since we are seniors with smaller appetites, we would have opted just for the continental breakfast. The couple we were with were restauranteurs and the wife was an executive chef. She remarked that the food was extremely fresh, well plated, and of the finest quality both for our evening and breakfast buffet meal.

When we departed, the concierge could tell we were having a difficult time positioning our cameras to take full advantage of the beautiful entryway, so he gave us some gift postcards as a gift of our stay with the hotel and I am looking at these postcards as I am writing this review.

A great experience but, understand this hotel exceeds the cost of its neighbor, Four Season which was right down the street. However, one can always stay at a Four Seasons, but, not always be able to enjoy staying at a real palace.

Room Tip: ask for a higher level room facing the Bosphorous River even if you have to pay a little more...

Yes, the very original palace, where they accomodate 11 suites and the "real hotel", where all the rooms are located. If you expected the magic of staying in a historical place, then you should be prepared to pay thousands -literally- of dollars per night. I believe that the palace might be exceptional, but no such a thing happens with the normal hotel.

We had a great stay, don't get me wrong, but it is simoly not at the highest level. For a Kempinski I would rank it with a 7.5. Our room was too noisy,it had a regular view and, did not have a coffee maker and the weight machine in the bathroom was ugly and old. It is simply not an excellent place, though it is very good.

For 500 dollars the night I would expect a better hotel.

The attention of the staff, nevertheless, is flawless.

Room Tip: Pick a Bosphorus view room, but one that is not located over the alley.

This is my 3rd stay in this hotel! It was very busy this time..a wedding and meetings so I was given an ok room compared to previous times! I tried to change and they showed me 3 other rooms, one though on the fifth floor and spacious yet dark, small balcony and pigeons were all over the roof. Also you cannot comfortably sit in the balcony as you are exposed directly and closely to the right side neighbours !! The other room had a partial kitchen view, the 3rd was a deluxe on the 2nd floor but the view was hindered by the palm trees and the last on the second floor which had a shower problem and I was asked to decide so I was sooo tired that I reluctantly opted for the latter and they fixed the shower . The guest relations manager was so apologetic and sweeet that one cannot be angry! She and another courteous manager offered daily free tea time sweets and complementary juices. I have only noticed that the room carpet and furniture need some refurbishment and it is a must to have a coffee maker , a kettle and tea/coffee similar to its sisterly hotels in kempinski chain. I shall not ask for breakfast included nor a free minibar but just a kettle and a coffee maker!
It is still the Best! Fatima the guest relations manager is such an experienced professional courteous caring outstanding staff and Abdurrahim our floor home service was a role model. I shall go back and back again but Never during a busy season!

Room Tip: Ask for a Bosphorous view

Sitting on the Bosphorous the Ciragan Palace hotel offers beautiful rooms, spot on service and memorable dining. Everything about this property shouts Deluxe. We did not venture out for breakfast or dinner during our 3 day stay because the hotel's dining choices were so appealing.

Room Tip: rooms facing the water are not only quitter but offer great views of the Bosphorous and the bridge c...

I'm lost for words, and that's not often as I have travelled quite a lot and been in lots of nice hotels but I guess the Ciragan Palace beats them all! From the moment you step in to the moment you leave the service is just excellent but discreet. Breakfast is probably the best one I've ever had, not to mention the stunning view over the Bosphorus! The infinity heated pool overlooking the strait is beautiful as are the gardens. The room had all the amenities you can expect. All in all a great experience!

This was my second stay at the Ciragan Palace and it still amazes. The grounds and the location are unparalleled .The only issue is that you cannot walk anywhere except to Ortakoy but that is not enough, you need a car to move around the city.

Room Tip: Stay in a room overlooking the Bosphorus preferably on a higher floor.
