Really lovely room and situated far from the hustle and bustle of Old section of Istanbul. It is truly a palace with lovely grounds, a beautiful pool and lovely accomodations. The only downside is that it is a distance from some of the major sites and traffic can be difficult! If you enjoy staying a little out of the way it is truly fabulous.

One of the best views that money can buy on the Bosphorus. An excellent property, however the interiors are looking tired. definitely needs re doing the rooms....perhaps a Botox !!

The Bell Boys could also perhaps be more efficient. it takes forever for your luggage to come to the room or at departure.

The service does not match upto the high standards of a Kempinski !!

Room Tip: Rooms directly facing the Bosphorus only. The side rooms are a rip off

This hotel was priorly a palace for sultans. It is still like a palace. The rooms are quite expensive; however, luxury and comfortable. If you are looking for a boutiqu hotel, this is not the right choice. If you like to live like a sultan (at least for one day), do try!

My husband and I stayed 5 nights in a Bhosporus view room, which overlooked the Palace as well. The view was stunning and you could just sit on the balcony for hours looking at the passing ships. The room was on the smaller side, with a large toilet and a large balcony. The breakfast buffet was fabulous with every possible item you could imagine, and the very senior wait staff member always greeted us by name and gave the same table whenever possible. The two alternating concierage were extremely helpful at all times. On one occasion after a long day of shopping and sightseeing I had accidently left my cross-over handbag at the security screening at the entrance and realised it was missing only when I reached the room. As my husband was going to get it there was this lady and another staff member at the door with my bag with all the valuables intact. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Over the years my family and I have stayed in lots of 5 star rated hotels but not all of them have met with our satisfaction and as the years go on, I find my expectations are higher and higher and I am quite simply harder to please, but Ciragan Palace Kempinski Istanbul met with every expectation and more. It was INCREDIBLE! We stayed there for the last 2 nights of a 5 night trip. The service is superb and they literally think of everything. The views are stunning, the location is mind blowing (on the border of two continents!) and the attention to detail is noteworthy. The outdoor swimming pool is heated so whatever the weather, you can swim in the infinity pool know that you are splashing around in Europe while looking over into Asia. The breakfast buffet is by far the best buffet I have ever seen. I was literally spoiled for choice. They hotel were very accommodating with the children (8, 6 & 5yrs old) and left them little surprise gifts in the room every night (chocolates, lollipops...) Having access to the Ciragan Palace and all its history and magnificence was also incredibly special as the typical tourist spots are busy and noisy around Istanbul, yet back at the Hotel, we were spoiled with our own private piece of history that we could enjoy and access at any time. If you want to escape the confines of the hotel, you are only a few minutes away from the Ortakoy district which is teaming with affordable cafes, restaurants, and shops and if you’re looking for something more relaxing you are literally opposite the largest park in Istanbul, Yildiz Parki. This was by far the best Hotel I have ever stayed in and the perfect way to finish a wonderful 5 day holiday in Istanbul.

The Ciragan Palace is a truly luxurious, wonderful hotel and made for an awesome vacation in Istanbul!

ROOM: The basic room with a park view was more than adequate. If you want to pay significantly more for the sweeping views of the Bosporus, go ahead, but we didn't feel like we were missing out at all. The room was spacious, with plenty of storage and sitting room for two and a wonderful bed. The bathroom was also large and Westernized, with a modern shower and plenty of sink and counter space for us to spread out our toiletries.

SERVICE: The service is exceptional. Everyone we encountered was friendly, from helping us get taxis to showing us around our room to providing attentive (but not too attentive!) service at the pool.

GROUNDS: The grounds are by far the best on the Bosporus, better than any of the competing hotels--and I know, because we walked down the road to check out the bar and pool at one next door and it was not nearly as elegant or spacious as the Ciragan Palace! The pool deck is gorgeous, and there are lots of areas around the property to explore. We also took advantage of the gym, which is nothing special but perfectly fine for a quick workout before dinner.

FOOD: We enjoyed lunch and cocktails at the pool a couple days, and everything was delicious. We also enjoyed cocktails at the gazebo bar every night before turning in. We ordered room service breakfast every day, and there were many tasty, healthy options--just be wary because you will get way too much food if you order for two!

LOCATION: The location is excellent if you're looking for a more relaxing stay in Istanbul. It's a stunning spot on the Bosporus, where you can watch the boats go by all day. You're a short walk to many luxury hotels and the ferry dock, and a nice, but a little bit longer, walk to some of the trendy parts of town. You definitely have to take a boat or taxi to the Old City and the most famous tourist attractions, but we were very glad that we didn't stay in one of the "touristy" areas. If you like to sleep in, relax, enjoy the pool and spa, etc. you will definitely prefer this location to one near the Bazaar or Blue Mosque.

CONS: The only "downsides" occurred right when we arrived, though I wouldn't say there's anything negative about the hotel overall. After driving through two hours of traffic from the airport, we were actually shocked to find that the majority of the hotel and rooms are not located in the palace. When you look at the hotel online or in advertisements, it seems like you'll be staying in the palace, no? There are only a couple (extremely expensive) suites in the palace; everything else is in a regular hotel. The hotel was wonderful regardless, but it's important to note. We had someone show us to our room and then explain every little detail of the room for about 15 minutes--which was nice, of course, but a little over the top when we just wanted to unpack and unwind.

OVERALL: The Ciragan Palace was one of my most relaxing, luxurious hotel stays in a long time. It's exotic, romantic, but still comfortable. I'd love to go back!
