Nice location, quite large rooms and fair prices however the stuff and service is way below expectations! Worth mentioning the spa how horrible it is! Only good thing is the pool thats all! Had a hamam treatment there so regret it to spend on it 300 euro was awful the girl was so tired and inefficient! I mean for one hour treatment for that price you would expect little bit better service about communication skills i will even not start on that!

I have spend 2 nights in this hotel during a business trip. The surrounding is not really nice as the hotel is placed on a very busy street and surounded by construction work / gass station. The recepcion however is nice and the rooms OK, the hotel is more an 3-4 star according to European standards. The problem I have faced is the poor windows isolations as an viaduct is below the windows I really was facing problems to sleep well. The food was very good in the breakfast and as well during the dinner in the evening. The minus I have to highlight is the poor service of the bartenders. All in all OK hotel, with work to do on the level of staff and they definitly sould improve the windows would not recommend it for a romantic getaway only as a busines hotel.

Dear valued guest,

Greetings from Divan Istanbul and thank you very much that you shared your comments through tripadvisor.

As you mention the hotel is located in heart of the town and unfortunately there is a very big construction about to make the Taksim Square as a pedestrian zone. At the end of june it will finish and you will stay in a better environment.

Dear guest, please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience. You can get in touch with me from the hotel or from my e-mail address. ( edizt@divan.com.tr)

Best Regards,

Just got back from a 4-night stay at Divan Hotel near Taksim Square. The hotel location is great, a few minutes walking distance to Taksim Square and the pedestrian shopping area. Across the hotel there are some pretty good restaurants.

The room itself was fantastic--bed was comfortable, room was clean, it has all the amenities you need. We did have to request for an iron and ironing board to be brought up plus the room didn't have a kettle but you can just call them to bring these up if you need them.

I tried the gym and pool and both were top notch--the pool especially! It was absolutely beautiful--indoors and with lukewarm water--great for laps! Downside was that you are required to wear a swimming cap--but if you don't have one, they sell it for 15 Liras. Although I didn't try the spa and sauna, they both looked divine

The breakfast was a litle bit disappointing, not that much variety compared to other 5 star hotels. Another bad point is that internet wasn't free.

The main disappointment of this place though is it's reception staff. We had numerous off putting experiences with their staff (one extremely irritating experience in particular), but let me just enumerate to make things easier:

1. When we requested an extra bed at our own expense (the room was booked by an agency and paid for by a sponsoring company) the lady at the reception (although she was just on the phone with the agency a minute ago asking if an extra bed was possible) said that WE had to call the agency to ask them if it's possible to book an extra bed as the reservation went through the agency, This was absolutely stupid to us and we repeated to her than WE'RE paying for the extra bed and not the sponsoring company so we didn't understand why we couldn't book it directly with the hotel. She AGAIN said we had to call the agency and we AGAIN had to explain that this was ridiculous because we're paying for it and she was JUST ON THE PHONE with the agency so why couldn't she just call them again. I think she finally saw how exasperated we were with her stupidity so she just called the agency and FINALLY got us the extra bed.

2. We were charged double for internet despite having talked to somebody from reception to clear their weird internet charging system the night before

3. I had the feeling and impression that almost all of the reception staff didn't understand or speak english very well which led to misunderstandings and general frustration on our part

If we didn't have to deal with their staff, this would've been a perfect stay. But despite their poorly trained reception staff, I would still recommend divan for it's rooms, pool, and location

Room Tip: 1022 is very spacious and the view of the city is nice

Dear Valued guest,

Greetings from Divan Istanbul.
I received your complaint through tripadvisor and I must say that I was really sorry for all the inconviniences.

As an international Hotel Concept the breakfast should have variety of items that has to be served international and Turkish cousine. While we are creating the service standarts it is also compared with the other 5 star hotels in town. However I shared your comments with our Corporate Executive Chef and he will do his best.

The internet issue is another concept that we have internet access from an international company. They are providing a very fast and secure internet ( 3-5 GB ). To give the best service and comfort is our first mission for our guests.

Dear guest, every company or travel agent has different agreements with the hotel. If the reservation has made by yourself it is of course acceptable for your extra bed requirement however if it is the third party we shall get the confirmation from your travel agent. As a conclusion of your constructive comment we are going to change the process.

Please accept my sincere apologies again for all the complaints that you had, for your upcoming visit please get in touch with me via e-mail ( edizt@divan.com.tr ) or phone. I promise you will have a memorable visit.

Best Regards,

I stayed at junior suite of this hotel for 1 night, and i think it is one of the best hotel's i ever checked in!maybe the price is not affordable for every tourists but i think paying 290EURO per night for such a suite with this material is not much. The building is so nice, the room is so huge, well decorated and so comfortable.you can see luxury wood decors everywhere, the room have king size bed, 2 LED TV, leather sofa, luxury working desk,... . The bathrooms are awesome and so large with nice amenities (scale, magnifying mirror, luxury shower gel, soap,...). you will find the Philips ipod dock with alarm clock, the phones are cisco with digital display, the curtains are electric, digital air conditioner system, high speed internet(it's not free), the corridors are well decorated too and you feel you stay in av palace. The quality of breakfast is so awesome and staff are so friendly and can speak English very fluently! i think this hotel must number 1 choice for who care about the quality and luxury!

Room Tip: You don't need a tip to choose a room in this hotel, everywhere is so GREAT!!!!!!

I was so impressed to see the large sea view President Suite. It has a barbeque on the terrace and bosphorus view is superb. Diligently decorated rooms are really good and soft colors are so relaxing. The Park view rooms are large and nicely decorated. Sea view rooms are wide and king size beds are comfortable. Bathrooms are large and bright. Restaurants are large and food was so delicious. The Divan-Pub outside is a classic Cafe-Restaurant in Istanbul and still very popular. I liked the service. The location is very good. It's walking distance to Taksim, few minutes to Besiktas area. It's easy to reach almost everywhere by public transportation. Underground station is 4-5 minutes, buses are right in front of the hotel etc.

Room Tip: Both rooms are quiet and nice but I loved the sea view rooms.

I rate this hotel as outstanding. The staff at reception speak excellent English and the rooms are well proportioned and comfortable. My room had a wood panelled corridor with lots of closet space. The bathroom was huge and done in marble. The room itself had a king size bed with leather sofa, desk and chair. You could see that an architect had taken effort in designing the rooms because they were perfectly proportioned. You can order room service virtually at any time, day or night. However, the best part of the hotel is the spa in the basement, with a huge pool, sauna, steam rooms and turkish bath. Its like a Sultan's Palace and is complimentary with your stay. Breakfasts were good although a bit more variety, including Turkish dishes would have been nice. The hotel also has a good coffee and pastry shop, although the waitresses could speak better English. A very comfortable stay!!

Room Tip: Make sure to get a room at the back or side of the hotel which is quiet as there is currently constr...
