“Everything perfect but 1 funny minus :)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2012

Stayed in Divan with my husband in June 2012. Liked hotel very much. Delicious kitchen, perfect service, beautiful hotel, but one funny minus :) Light is extinguished for 2-3 times a day. It takes only 1-2 minutes and then again everything is perfect. So dont pay attention to this and go ahead. Because the rest in this hotel is perfect!

Room Tip: We have deluxe room. It was very nice.

This was a wonderful luxury hotel in the popular Taksim Area of Istanbul, European side. The room on the 4th floor was spacious, clean, very comfortable with an impressive bathroom and shower facility made of marble/stone walls. There is a smart button to press for privacy or room to be services inside the room, so no awkards signs to hang on the door. The staff speak English sufficiently to meet one's accommodation needs. The hotel was conveniently located to Taksim Square and the train to the tram taking us tourist spots such as the Turkish Bazaar and Hagia Sophia or Boat to the Asian side.

The room was generally quiet, but we heard drilling as late as 12:30am a couple of times, and bumping and conversations in other rooms or elevator commons. It must have been an emergency repair. I would for this reason recommend a room higher up to avoid hearing lobby sounds below.

Meals were reasonable at the lobby and worthwhile way of dining without the hassles of looking for a restaurant admist the hussle and bussle of the town. Breakfast was decent, but pricey.

The quilt/comforter was a bit thick for the warm weather -- and the air conditioner really did not make the room cool enough to be comfortable under it, so ask for a thinner blanket.

Some sewer smell seeps into the room from unknown sources daily, but the smell seems to be unnoticeable after an 30 minutes to an hour.

Staff were accommodating and gentle.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay for 7 nights and would come back.

Room Tip: I would get a higher up room not facing the main street for quiet and a little view of the Bosphorou...

comfortable, contemporary, well-appointed room, very good shower and internet. Abundant selection of breakfast items. Good location with numerous restaurants nearby. Far from major tourist sites.

The Staff at the Divan Hotel Istanbul made my Turkish experience as delightful as the turkish delight I brougt home with me. Staying at the hotel for 8 days and coming back for the last day of our trip was a great experience the lunch from the manager Ediz was also highly appreciated and as ratings go they lived up to the 5 stars....

Room Tip: Depending on your stay I found the rooms above the dining room section more quiet so ask for rooms f...

Two nights here in a very well designed set of two rooms: one a bedroom and the other a living workspace. Both rooms are on the small side but so well designed with every modern amenity similar to the cabins on 5 star luxury liners, that the experience is excellent. The breakfast was excellent and the pool, and workout facility as well as the Turkish bath and spa are incredible. This is a gem and well worth sacrificing the large scale spaces of other nearby hotels for the intimacy and aesthetic of a chic Boutique hotel. Very good service.

Everything...
Staff was excellent, they really understand "service" without being too present, without overdoing it or overstating their presence.
Rooms are beautiful, well designed, spacious, great bathroom, good bed.
Breakfast, the restaurant and in room dining are all very good quality, good service and diversity.
I would certainly recommend it to anyone. And I found my new place to be in Istanbul for the next time
If I need to address one bad element : Charging for WIFI or internet.
It's so year 2000 to charge for that.
Any decent 4 or 5 star hotel should give this as a free service.
It is like if you would have to pay for the soap in the bathroom.
I would offer a limited free service in the room like 10MBit performance, upload and download limits. But then offer a premium service for 200MBit performance and no limits for instance.
That I would be happy to pay for.
But now paying 26TL per day for a very limited and slow internet service is going against my sense of fairness.

Was here for a business trip. The hotel is very close to the Taksim square, so in the very city center, at walking distance from the restaurant and shopping area.
It's a fully renewed hotel, with a good service and very good rooms.
Something is not perfect, so I can not give a 5 stars:
- air conditioning too noisy
- the luxury restoom smells (!). It's a shame for such beatiful room, but something is happening in the water pipes.. asked to the reception, but no help.
- no free internet connection. The swisscom wifi is expensive (15€/24h) and not reliable.
The room is big and fantastic, very good bed, great pillows.
Excellent breakfast.
