This museum has a lot to offer. One needs time to really see all the artifacts and understand the way people used to live back in time. It really offers true lessons of history to the visitors.

A very complete set of articles, including the five animals of Pergamo, and the winter palace of the Sultans. Also the original code of hammurabi, and the treaty of kadesh!

Great collections and a very nice cafe in the shades of big trees. I ended up spend the whole afternoon there.

We really enjoyed out visit to the Istanbul Archaeological Museum in July 2013. Unfortunately a section of the museum was closed to the public at the time of our visit due to refurbishment, but the areas we saw were great. It is a large museum with lots of ancient tombs and reliefs. We found the gladiator reliefs especially impressive. The set out of the artefacts is good, with lights shining on them, so there is no need for flash photography. Given the number of artefacts held here and the low entry fee, we would definitely recommend a visit to this museum.

It has some very nice artifacts to see but it the presentation is bad. It would be nice to have more information about what you are seeing.

Overall it's worth going there but it could have been so much better.
