Best way to reach here is to first visit Miniaturk in the morning. Spend 2-3 hours there. Walk into the nearby waterfront. Hire a 3-4 seater power boat to Eyup Sultan. These boats go only there and nowhere else. This short ride is very enjoyable.
We were guided to this by Aaamir, manager of Divalis Hotel, for which we are thankful to him.
The place is named after Ayub Ansari, a companion of Prophet Mohammed(pbuh), who is buried here and a huge mosque attracts lots of visitors. There is a cable car station nearby to take you uphill for a enjoyable sight of the great city from mountain top. One side of the mountain is a grave yard with neatly built grave stones with names engraved. Cable car is very popular with tourists hence be prepared to que up for an hour or two to get your turn.

It was a honor given to me and my wife by the Almighty Allah to recite Fateha and spent whole day at the Tomb and Mosque .Probably one of the most spiritual places in istanbul where the eyup sultan mosque is adjoined with the tomb of the great companion of the prophet is buried. A once in a lifetime opportunity to do pay respects and do Fatihah at the tomb. Unfortunately the tomb itself Is currently closed due to renovations so can't wait to come back once complete. The surrounding Area is buzzing with locals and shopping for Islamic art is much cheaper here. We got a taxi (40 L) from the President Hotel, Beyzit which dropped us right outside the mosque. Taxi Drivers r like taxi drivers all over the world so what to comment .May Allah gives us againa chance to be at the tomb . there is a peace for me .Ameen

We got a bus (3l each) from the station at emoinou (galata bridge) which dropped us right outside the mosque. Got the bus back as we'll....takes 25mins only.....make sure you get a local to pay for your bus fare on their swipe card as the bus won't take cash although our driver let us on.
