“Beautiful place to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2013

A must to visit because of its history. Eyup Sultan Mosque, is where a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is buried, around 1400 years ago. It holds amazing value and esteem and should be visited

“Get off the beaten path.”

Enjoy the ferry ride up to Eyup and visit the small town which is a magnet for pilgrims. The people watching is fantastic, as is the tram ride up to an coffee stop with a magnificent view.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

Highly recommended to take the Golden Horn Ferry to Eyup and then visit this shrine as well as take the cable car to the top of the hill (it's then best to return to the mosque by walking back down through the very interesting cemetery as opposed to dealing with the long return lines for the cable car). The shrine itself was our favorite mosque in Istanbul and the surrounding market stalls offer better prices than elsewhere in Istanbul.

“Very important place for devout Muslims”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2013

It is very important Camii and a burial place of Sultan Eyup who was a standard barrier and Prophet's companion in early Islamic wars. This Camii has been recently restored to its early glory.

“A very normal mosque”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013

You can visit this mosque when you are going to "Pier Loti" hill. The mosque itself has nothing interesting for a normal visitor unless you didn't see Blue mosque, Suleymanih mosque or Fatih mosque. but the area around the mosque is very nice for eating, drinking and more than that buying some gifts for your family and friends. Prices are more fare in this area.
So, after coming down from the Pier Loti hill it worth to take a look at old Bazar in front of Eyup sultan mosque.
