“Block off a couple hours - awe inspiring place”

Don't miss this, even with some interior scaffolding in place to keep an ancient place maintained properly it was very cool walking around here...and sooooo beautiful. A must before heading home!

“Beautiful site”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2013

This is an incredible site but it was full of scaffolding and we were rushed through to closing. It is also expensive so we felt a bit disappointed. The Christian history of the site is minimized and the Muslim meaning superimposed.

“Mustafa makes the Hagia Sofya even more wonderful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2013

If you see Mustafa, a 90 year old guide offering to give tours, please grab him! It is worth the money for a guide because the Ayasofya is so rich in history. And Mustafa has been doing tours for 70 years. Worth going to!

“Church / Mosque combination”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2013

This museum shows it's history through evidence of it first being a church turned mosque. The joy is in the wandering through not only the cavernous main hall, but also the upper galleries. The view of the blue mosque from the upper gallery window is very good.
