beatiful mozaics and great dome ,built by Byzantines but converted to a mosque by Ottomans after the fall of Constantinople. Amazing artitechture and very unique dome in size. 6th century Isidorus and Antemius building. Upper gallery is the most impressive part.

“Magnificent”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

It was just amazing to see the history I had read about and the amazing thing is the Turkish people have done a good job in preserving the Aya Sofia as a Museum. What got me was the preserved mosaics that were left in tact by the Sultan. Here you see the remnants of the Church that this place was, that became the mosque that it is. Only seeing can do justice to this site.

“Under Construction”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

I only give it 4 out of 5 stars because there was scaffolding on half of the central portion, which made it hard to take in how huge it was. It's terribly old and beautiful. Quite amazing and not to be missed.
