Reviewed May 10, 2013

Not got an excellent because clearly the ticketing system needs sorting out. But this is such an important site I cannot imagine why you would not go!

“No matter my evaluation, it is still a must see”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

We are glad we went. Impressive does not start to describe it.
Even when I grew up as a child, we were told how magnificent the Hagia Sofia was.
It is now strictly a museum, with line-ups for tickets as well as an entrance.

We were on a tour (no need if you stay in the old city) so we did not have to wait for tickets and in the line we were explained interesting fact about the history of this old church.

Oh yes it is worthwhile to see, but I found some old gothic churches in Europe more interesting with their ornamentations, their organs, their stained glass windows etc. etc.
1 Hours is more than enough as the the remains of the Greek Orthodox religion is gone elsewhere.

“Beautiful! Here's a tip to avoid huge queues...”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

This place is fantastic - unbelievable that it's so old.
May 2013 there are long queues for tickets, all day long. Don't make yourself suffer! All you have to do is arrive at 8:30 with a hot coffee in your hand (hungry? buy an acma or simit bun from the stall at the gate) then at 9 you'll walk straight in AND the place will be nice and quiet for a while, until it starts to fill up.
