Be physically and mentally prepared to shop in the Grand Bazaar. Be thirsty for you will drink many cups of tea. Wear comfortable shoes because there are over 5000 shops and sixty streets. The street names refer to the different trades and crafts. I must have been on leather jacket street. Be in a good mood to deal with shopkeepers who will try to lure you in. You will have many best friends and marriage proposals. Hone up on your bargaining skills. Allow plenty of time to explore. Take advantage of fresh squeezed pomegranate juice for energy. Most important – never forget your luggage allowance or you will spend the rest of your trip wondering how you will get all the leather jackets home. The Bazaar has come a long way from the original construction in the fifteenth century. They now have a website.

Had a great time traveling through the streets of the grand bazaar after spending the morning at galata tower. Its a must see, even if you arent looking for anything. You will probably still end up buying something anyway

Shopping at the Grand Bazzar is a contact sport. So, make it fun. As you have read in the other reviews, it is huge and there is a lot to be offered. Though, there is a high degree of repetition. If you see it once in the bazaar you will see it another dozen times, with the exception of fine silk on the roll. We only found one good one there. Never, ever, go with the first price. I found in most goods you should start at about 20% of what they are asking and let them talk you up to 35% max. They may seem insulted at your low ball offer, but it's all a game. And, DON"T be fooled by the friendly gesture of tea. The merchants are happy to offer it up knowing that they will not have a 100% sales conversion. We had a blast, and purchase a carpet and 14 yards of silk... plus other little goodies. Do keep an eye (hand) on your wallet as this is a prime location for pick pockets. As for time allocation, it depends on if you are in the mindset to shop or just look. For a look-see, I'd say 2 hours should do it. If you are serious shopper and have help carrying all the stuff you buy, plan for most the day. For larger items such as carpets, free shipping home is customary. Our's arrived 2 days after we returned home. This is certainly a must see destination.

The grand bazar or as I like to call it "the big maze of merchandise" is a huge place full of almost everything u can think of!

It's a good place to get for ur loved ones or dear ones souvenirs but be careful about the pricing. You can always check other sellers and compare the price, then go back to the one you find most reasonable. Mainly, I found the prices reasonable.

Grand bazar needs lots of time to check, so you must schedule its visit separately or with something near it like the spice bazar....

To get to the grand bazar from Taksim, take the subway to kabatas, then from kabatas take the tram to Beyazit... The grand bazar is in beyazit's gate.

If you like shopping , grand bazar is the place for you!
Enjoy!
