“Peaceful, comfortable, great views!”

If you'd like to get away from the tourist hustle and bustle in Istanbul, this is the place. Bahri met me at the airport and could not have been more helpful. The flat had everything I needed, and I particularly like super-comfy firm mattress. Of course the main selling point is the flower-lined terrace with wonderful views down to the Bosphorous. It really is as lovely as the photos suggest!
The location, in a quiet residential district on the Asian side, suited me perfectly. There are local shops within a couple of minutes' walk, with prices a fraction of the the tourist shops and bazaars. Try the baklava from the local bakery - you won't be disappointed! It's easy to walk to Uskadar or Kadikoy (about 25 mins downhill to each) or you can jump on a dolmus to either from the end of the road. The nearest ferry port to the flat, Harem, is an easy walk downhill in the morning, but coming back after a long day sightseeing I found the 180 steps followed by a short walk uphill a bit tiring! Fortunately it's easy enough to get the ferry to Kadikoy and get the dolmus up the hill. As a woman travelling alone, I always felt safe, and was very happy to get away from the crowds and have a taste of the real Istanbul.

Very clean apartment, gracious and helpful hosts Bahri and Nihal, Bahri willingly acted as guide for a walking tour of the mosques and center of Uskudar. The terrace has a lovely view of the sea and views of the Asian side of Istanbul with some obstructions of other buildings. Two bedrooms worked great for us. Bathroom clean with hot water. Every request of Bahri was quickly met with results. Everything promised was delivered. The kitchen is a bit small but in good weather the terrace with table and chairs provides an ample area for dining.

“Quiet neighbourhood, great view”

We have stayed in this 2 bedroom apartment for a week in March. The owner, Bahri has phoned us before our arrival to ask for the sleeping arrangements. Even though we have arrived late in the evening, he greeted us and carried our luggage to the 5th floor. (there is no elevator) His wife has provided us some oranges and another evening Turkish delicacies. The apartment is comfortable size, with 2 bedroom (no living room), a kitchen and a bathroom. The entrance is thru the owner's apartments entrance. It was unexpected, but we had no issues with that. Location is good, especially if you are traveling at odd hours from the Airport on the Asian side (Sabiha Gokcen). The ferries going to the European side are frequent and stations are within 10 minutes taxi drive (if there is no traffic). What I liked best was the location (since our visit was focused on the Southern Istanbul), the view, the neighborhood (grocery shops, hair dressers, bakeries are within a 50 m walk). There is a fresh market one day a week, I would definitely recommend to every tourist to enjoy that ambiance. Not having a sitting area when the kids were sleeping in the bedrooms was a small issue. Also bathroom might use a renovation soon. I might recommend a more view oriented sitting arrangement in the kitchen, since I felt bad turning my back to the magnificent view in the evenings. There is an amazing terrace which we couldn't enjoy much due to the bad weather. In March we used the heating from the AC, which was sufficient. I definitely recommend this place and would stay again.

The whole trip was easy from beginning to end, booking was great with the owner who sent Google maps of the property and local area. When we arrived at the property the owner was there to greet us and show us evrything the property had to offer including maps etc to get around. His family and neighbours were simply wonderful nothing was too much trouble. The property was lovely, clean, well maintained and fantastic views overlooking the Marmara sea on one side and the Bosphorous on the other. The property was great to use as a base to see the whole of Istanbul both Asian and European sides.

“great apartment with helpful hosts - excellent value for money”

Located on the asian side this apartment is just a quick ferry ride from the heart of the city. There are usually three to four ferries operating at any one time, so rarely do you have to wait more than 5 minutes, and the crossing only takes about 10 minutes. The ferry only costs 2TL (about 70 pence). Just beware that there is a flight of steps to negotiate between the dock and the apartment, but is only a 10 minute walk.

The area is very quiet at night - almost like being in the sticks. ATM and 3 or 4 mini supermarkets are just around the corner. The terrace is not overlooked by anyone else and there is a good view of the Marmara Sea, though the view to the city is partial.

As for Bahri and his wife, they couldn't have been more helpful, which is very reassuring when sometimes the language and the natives can be a bit obscure. They live downstairs and are always on hand if you need help. Even at the end of our stay Bahri took us to the bus station and put us on the bus to the airport.

“Great Terrace”

We have been here a week and truly have enjoyed the experience of the Asian side. Our hosts live below us and are very friendly, brought us fresh oranges and a hot dish vegetable dish and dessert. The flat has a small kitchen, so we could make our own coffee etc. We can walk to the ferry, down the hill or the steps, and then do more exploring in the tourist part of Istanbul. We did a day of walking around the outdoor markets here in uskudar, with lots of outdoor vendors and eateries etc. but what we truly enjoy is the giant terrace here, you can watch the boats and sit out in the sun, great view, wish we could stay longer

The apartment is conveniently located on the Asian side. Few minutes walking down the hill and you are only minutes away from the very heart of Istanbul by ferry. The apartment has an amazing terrace with sweeping views of Bosphorus and Istanbul. It is well equipped, your own laptop with Internet access is part of the decor. The host family are very friendly and hospitable. The best part - they live right downstairs, so you have any requests/questions just ask. We had to leave the place early, before the ferries nearby were to start for the day. The gracious host gave us a ride to another ferry terminal despite the inconvenient hour. Althogether it was a great stay.
