This opinion that of two 21 year old students traveling for a year or two on the cheap..

Without a doubt the most comfortable, 'away from home sleep' I've ever had. The bunks are sturdy (no wobbling/creaking to wake up your friend above/below when you leave for your 5am flight... Great hostel in general, bathrooms are modern and immaculately clean. Breakfast is basic but plentiful. Location is good for main shopping street. It was a little difficult to find as they don't state how far it is from Taksim square. It is at the far end of the pedestrian street, walk about 10minutes and the metal sign they mention is a overhead gateway to the street. It's more of a pedestrian street and very different to the other previous streets. I THINK it was a 'Mavi' store that was opposite and if you hit the Burger King (a very small one, there are about 4 on the street) you have gone 2 shops too far!)

But. They play music in the lobby/cafe/reception area from 6am til quite late. Not only is it bad but its uncomfortably loud for chatting and can be heard from the first floor rooms. The location is not in the old town so it a decent 25min walk each morning/night. There is just one bathroom on each floor and its bathroom and toilet in one so it can be difficult to get changed even if your not showering in peak times. Rooms are tiny, but as long as your are smart about where you unpack your ok. No bag (other than maybe a large handbag) will fit in the lockers so all bags have to be on the floor. That said, these are all minor things, I would definitely stay there again and recommend to others

Room Tip: If your a light sleeper ask for a room on the higher floors 2/4 but there is no lift so take that into account.

My first time in Istanbul was amazing and #bunk was definitely a great part of it. When I return to Istanbul I will definitely book again at this place.

It was clean, and the staff was extremely helpful. Levent, Banu, Donya and Sonia were all helpful and knowledgeable of Istanbul, and truly willing to help. Breakfast in the morning is very basic but good.

Yes the rooms are a tad cramped, but whatever. The cleanliness and service more than make up for it. And for the price paid, it was nothing to complain about. I also had no problems sleeping, and my room faced the street.

Great place to stay, in a great location, in a great city.

I stayed at #Bunk just one night in the female 4 bed dorm. It is such a nice, modern place to stay. It was clean and bright and the shower was good as well. The staff are also cool and its nice to hang out downstairs and meet people. Banu asked me to say that she's awesome!! I would recommend staying here. It's really easy to get here from Taksim as well. You pay a little more than other hostels, but its worth it :-)

I was quite happy with my 3 night stay in mid November 2012. It was renovated around March 2012 and they did a great job! I stayed in a 4 bed mixed dorm and it was a bit small. Not a large amount of room but there are lockers under the beds to store your items.

However nothing larger than a max size airline carry on will fit. There were a couple shelf's and hangers on the ends of the bunks which allowed for a few shirts, etc.

Now if you are an early sleeper or light sleeper, bring ear plugs or headphones. The room I was in faced the street and you will be able to hear the street noise/music from the bars/etc until 2 or 3am.

The bathrooms are quite spacious and are in great shape! Minus the little bit of mold I saw in the shower and the fact that each floor shares a bathroom I was quite happy.

The common room was pretty cool. Good upbeat music selections where playing most of the time (sometimes a bit loud in the morning as I could hear it on the 2nd floor at 6am). Would be nice to be able to buy a beer from them and not have to leave to purchase from a shop.

In the morning they provide a standard hostel breakfast minus meats/cheese. 3 types of cereal, breads with jams/jellies along with coffee & tea. While it wasn't cooked to order eggs or a full Irish/English breakfast it was adequate.

My only real issues are with the lack of any planned activities. An organized pub crawl or tour would really place this hostel up at the top of the list.

The staff seemed quite friendly and had some great tips on restaurants and bars/clubs. And handled all my questions without acting annoyed.

All in all, a nice hostel that I would stay at again and if they can tweak a couple items they could be one of the top hostels in Istanbul

#bunk was very good for me. I needed a place to sleep, convenient to easy transportation to the airport, convenient to at least some of the sights in Istanbul and clean. #bunk fulfilled all four criteria.

#bunk is what you make of it. Yes, the rooms are small, but the beds and bedding are amazing. It forced you to spend a lot of time out in the cafe/lounge/city anyways. The bathroom is also very well appointed, and the shower was solid. The breakfast was utilitarian, but it was all-you-can-eat and free. Atmosphere was friendly, and the location was very convenient to Istiklal Caddesi (200 meters). It's a 45-60 minute walk to the Blue Mosque in Sultanahmet, less with public transportation.

Room Tip: Get rooms on the 2nd or 3rd floor (European reckoning not American).
