“Too expensive!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2013

+: Friendly owner, good location, airco in room

-: 1 unisex bathroom (with toilet inside) per floor (14 people), bathroom is dirty (cleaning lady only cleans the floor and not the rest of the bathroom, there is mold in the shower), shower has only icecold or extremely hot water, no public space (only the rooms), no reception: the manager hangs around in the cafe underneath the hostel

We stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed out stay. The rooms are basic but good value for money, it is close to the metro or about a 20min walk into the spice bazaar. The owner was very helpful and even let us keep our bags there overnight while we went to Gallipoli. Lots to see around the area aswell, although we didnt have too much time to do this. Would consider staying again for the price.

My only thing is that there was no common room. If your a solo traveller, it may be hard to meet people (although there is share rooms, however we opted for the private).

We ended up staying at Cheers Midtown for 14 days while sorting a major logistics issue. Serdar's help, friendliness, and generosity turned the start of a 6 month trip from write off to success. We cant thank him enough. Going beyond the call of a Hotel Managers duty doesn't get close to describing what he will do for his guests.
The hotel is in Beyoglu, the hippest and most lively place in Istanbul for travellers. It is 100m up from a tram stop, and its street goes another 200m to Iseglas St, party central. The side streets are authentic Istanbul, the neighbourhood friendly, with everything you'll need but not at tourist prices.
The hotel is cool, clean, and comfortable, with funky decor. The ground floor has a great cafe run by Pelis, a must try for the fresh baked treats or a proper meal.
Thansk again Serdar, everyone traveller should be heading your way

Very clean, excellent location (2 mins from main tram line, 5 mins from fish market, 5 mins from taksim square), great ambiance and wonderful (v helpful) owner. Other guests also v friendly, in contrast to other hostels i have been in. Would highly recommend for both solo travellers and those in groups. Couples' rooms very chic.

This hostel is placed perfectly. Walk up the street to Istiklal street (main shopping street) or down the street to the tram (Blue Mosque etc). Serdar was really friendly and helpful. He's happy to help you with directions, extra towels, blanket, leant us a multi-plug, dropped off and collected our laundry! There is no shared kitchen or free breakfast but you can borrow plates or put things in the cafe fridge downstairs. The water is lovely and hot, just make sure to shower when no one else is showering! The wifi is good in the cafe and on the hostel stairs (you can sometimes get it in the rooms). There is a pharmacy, taxi rank, grocery stores nearby.

Room Tip: Room 4 is large with an ensuite. The double mattress is actually two singles pushed together, where...

The hotel is very conveniently situated between the night lively quarter (foot distance) and the historical part (foot or tram distance). It is very clean though we shared on the same floor a Turkish standard bathroom - Intercontinental Ceylan's ensuite bathroom, where we stayed after, was not perfect to my eyes either -. Our room on the street was confortable though a bit noisy. Nice beddings and towels, AC, free wifi. There were also larger bedrooms with 4-6 beds to share. The tenant is a very kind guy. The breakfast can be taken in the shop downstairs but it is very expensive and overpriced. Prefered much more to go to Karakoy along the Bosphore - ten minutes by foot.
