this is a wonderful place to explore istanbul from. the staff is amazingly friendly and will help you with any issue at any time of day and night. the rooms (we stayed first in one with a private bathroom and then in one with a shared one) are clean, bright and simple but have a nice style with a personal touch. the bathrooms are clean, everything works and is looked after well.
overall you get a very decent hotel with great service for a price that is amazing for this city.
and the location is perfect: close to the tramway, walking distance to galata tower, istiklal, istanbul modern and galata bridge with tons of great food, nice bars and stunning views right there.
thanks!

Room Tip: our rooms faced the road which was totally quiet all night long. you hear the muezzin, one of the th...

I had a great time at this Hostel. People working there are very helpful, friendly and relaxed. Location is great, just a few minutes walk from Taksim and the main boulevard. I will definitely go back there. And the price is also fantastic. The room was basic but clean and the double bed was very comfortable, clean sheets and towels. I opted for a shared bathroom which was also clean and never to wait when I wanted to use it. For a hostel this definitely a fantastic one. Great find! The neighbourhood seemed safe and I never encountered anything strange while coming back at night. Would definitely recommend it!

Cheers was a very good hostel to use as a base for my visit to Istanbul. It was in a quiet neighborhood right in between Istanbul Modern and Istikal Caddesi, so both of those places are within easy walking distance. The staff was great... very friendly ... always making sure our needs were met. Because we were traveling in the off season, they upgraded our room too. The place was very clean for a hostel, although the walls are a bit thin. Definitely wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if I return to Ist.

This was my first time to visit Istanbul, so I had no idea what to expect. It was also my first time to stay in a hostel versus a hotel or with friends. However, from the moment I arrive with my friend to the time I left, hospitality was phenomenal. Yavuz greeted us quite late at night since our flight was delayed, and he helped us check in with great ease. I really appreciated that since I was beyond exhausted from traveling not just to Turkey, but around Turkey's other sites before settling into Istanbul. Our room was terrific, as was the bathroom. Everything was clean, orderly, cozy. I felt at home more here than in a hotel. I found myself hanging out in the lounge much more than I would have in a hotel's lobby. The guys in charge were conversational and knowledgeable of the area. Many times Yavuz gave recommendations for various activities, and they were all great. He even helped me figure out potential solutions to sending out postcards on the weekend since I forgot to, and the post office (PTT) was closed. lol One of the days I was there, I didn't even bother to go into the tourist regions of Istanbul; I remained at the hostel and hung out with them, got breakfast at the bakery next door, bought some minor stuff at the grocery store across the street, and even joined another hosteler at a pub just up the street in Taksim. Another night, Yavuz took me and my buddy to a restaurant where we had a really awesome Turkish dinner. He told me a great red wine that grows in the country, and I bought a bottle. Upon returning to NYC, I found the wine rec spot-on. On a couple occasions, Yavuz took us to a rooftop bar in the Sultanahmet district where we had great nights hanging with the other hostelers and him while enjoying outstanding and close views of the Blue Mosque and Ayasofya. I was amazed! I also loved how even when the lounge was full of people enjoying each other's company and playing music, I could hear nothing in my room. The hostel is quite quiet, so I never had trouble getting sleep. Put that together with out affordable it was plus how great Yavuz and Sky were running the place professionally yet being really friendly and cool, and I can say that my first time in a hostel was one that would make me wanna try it again!

Thanks again for everything, guys! The trip definitely wouldn't have been the same without ya!

First of all, Cheers is located perfectly just between the waterfront of the Bosphorus and Istiklal Caddesi, the main drag through town where everything centers around, both day and nightlife. Galata Tower is visible from the front-facing windows, nestled in among an altogether stunning view of local Istanbul. Essentially it is only a few minutes from a lot of really good things.

On top of that, the place is super nice. It's quiet, the rooms and beds are comfortable, the lounge is modern and hip, and the facilities include a washroom with shower on every floor, private rooms with private washrooms, a full kitchen open for guests to use, free coffee, tea, and water anytime, laundry room, a stocked multi-language bookshelf, free internet - really, the list of awesome things about this place could go on.

But really, not only is it very affordable for all of this, but the guys that run the place are absolutely amazing. They are helpful, kind, funny, friendly and overall professional while still being familiar and exceptionally accomodating.

Bakery next door, market across the street, plently of bars and restaurants right nearby... I could keep ranting on and listing, but it just comes down to this: you will have a great stay in Istanbul if you decide to stay at Cheers Midtown.

Room Tip: View from front-facing rooms is great, private rooms are a great value.
