“Great accomodation in the best city in the world”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2013

Ok. Big call; best city in the world. But that is my opinion. The history, architecture, people, food, vibe, life, live music, make this the most dynamic city I have ever been to. 212 is located just off istiklal Cadessi, the heart of the newer part of Istanbul and the best place to spend your time. You can easily get around from here and you aren't far from the historic area of Sultanahmet. But if you want nightlife and characters this is the place to be. The hosts (Berkay and Can) are great. They are there if you need them but leave you to your devices if you don't. We stayed 21-25 June. Yes Istanbul is experiencing some powerful times at the moment but don't let that stop you from going. The only way to understand the people is to meet them and chat to them. Your hosts will look after you - we never doubted that. Enjoy Istanbul and all it has to offer. You will be back, and back, and back (I always am)!

Room Tip: We stayed on the 4th floor. Great room. No noise from the street.

We enjoyed our stay at 212 Istanbul Suites June 20-22, June 24-27. 2 nights in the asia suite (5th Floor) and 2 nights in the taksim suite (3rd floor). Both rooms were nicely decorated and clean but we preferred the one on the third floor since it was less of a hike! Appliances were relatively new, all Boch! There is a washing machine in the kitchen which we used once and it runs very quiet, so much so that we weren't sure it was running at one point! After a long day sightseeing, one of the things I look forward to is a good shower. And the shower there was nice, water pressure was great and the water was always nice and hot! The one thing which I think can be improved is when showering, the water would leak out onto the floor of the bathroom making it very wet and slippery.

Can (John) was the person who checked us in and communicated with us throughout our stay. Can't say enough about what a really kind and accommodating host he is. He was able to meet us at odd hours to check us into our room, once at 10pm. On the day of the departure, he even helped us with our luggage all the way to Taksim square to catch the shuttle to the airport! Such a nice gesture. The guys in the cafe downstairs (Bunk) were also very friendly and helpful.

The location is really central, it is located on a street inside Istikal Cd, so it is still very quiet but just a skip away from the restaurants, clubs and shopping. Lots of beautiful embassies and historical places nearby. We went to a few rooftop bars near the apartment and the one with the best view by far was the one they recommended, on top of the Maramara hotel Pera, called Mikla. Don't miss it.

Thank you for your kind hospitality! We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely recommend our friends to stay there.

Highly recommend Berkay's lovely holiday apartments close to everything in the vibrant city of Istanbul...we stayed on the 3rd floor suite for 9 nights this past May(2013)...it was very clean, comfortable and private! It was around the corner from the Isiklal...and close to all the transportation choices..., restaurants, bars, you name it....it is all there, but without the noise....as the small building is actually located on a small narrow pedestrian only lane! Berkay has thought of everything....make sure you spend some time with him...he is very interesting and has lived and gone to school in the USA and Switzerland....a very wise man beyond his years! His assistant Can was available and helpful when needed....some coffee, a clothes horse to hang our wet clothes...also phoning a nightclub to secure us tickets to "Wishbone Ash"...an older British band...who were playing just a short walk away...what a great experience that was...and how polite the young Turks are and how well behaved! This is a vibrant European city, that is reasonably priced...the people are so friendly, it is squeaky clean...not a negative thing I can think of! I took 100's of photos....loved every minute of it! And food, OMG...delicious...from the fruits and vegetables to the shishkabob's...and desserts that were out of this world...don't worry about weight gain...you will walk it off in this wonderful walkable city...make sure to eat at Datli Maya (close by) and Shadow behind the Blue Mosque...fall in love with the rose petal Turkish Delight...we did....and splurge and buy some Turkish towels at Jennifer's Hamam ...go to Asia on the transit ferries....and highly recommend taking the bus to the Sakip Sabanci Museum...the ride is so pleasant...like being on the French Riviera...following the Bosphorus...met a woman on the bus who suggested we come with her...wow...never heard of it before, but will never forget it...trust us! A fabulous safe journey...cannot wait to return and explore more of such a great country!

Room Tip: There is no elevator....so stairs it is!

212 Suites was perfect for our stay in Istanbul!

The location was amazing and accessible to everything, close to shopping, restaurants, bars and transport. The apartment itself, was clean, modern and had lots of space.

There is a cafe at the bottom which was great for breakfast or a nice Turkish coffee before a day of exploring the city.

Berkay - thank you for being a kind and wonderful host. Our experience in Istanbul was one of a kind and you helped make it very special for us.

The location of the apartment is great - v close to Istiklal and Taksim, in the trendy Beyoglu neighborhood. It'ss on a quiet street and we were not disturbed by any noise or any early morning prayer calls. Beds were v comfortable. Bathroom is tiny. All suites are the same size Two reasons why I didn't give it a 5-star rating. First, even after a confirmed email exchange with Berkay/Can, we were told a day before arriving that there was an error in the reservation system and we would be moved to MySuites Istanbul (for the same price). They wrote back again shortly after and said that our suite was available at 212 after all. When we got to the apartment, Can met us and apologized that the air conditioning wasn't working and if he couldn't fix it, he would move us to the apartment upstairs. He got the AC fixed before we got back that evening but we had to move the next day any way, since they wanted to do some repairs in the bathroom. Both Berkay and Can were apologetic about the problems, but we did face these issues. And we had to remind Can before leaving to honor the Euro 55 rate he had quoted for a van drop off to SAW airport - he quoted Euro 65 the day before we were to leave.

This place is a short walk from the lively Taksim plaza and Istikal street. Luckily, its located down a small street which is quiet at night. The flat is spacious and decorated nice. The mattress and bedding is very comfortable. We paid for the airport pick up, which I recommend, because its a ways from the airport and there is a ton of winding streets if you have never been there before. The Bunk Cafe downstairs is great. The Owner speaks decent English if you have any questions.
